This was such a lovely hotel - we only stayed one night but it was a fantastic one. We were in the area looking for rare endemic bird species (a Fuerteventura stonechat) and it is within walking distance of some truly incredible volcano walking paths which are clearly marked for travellers. The nearby small town of La Oliva has a sweet small church with a plaza with a Kiosko (bar) where you can sit out, and there is a very good local food store called Verde Oliva where you can buy local products like wine and cheese. The surrounding mountain scenery is stark and breathtaking. We arrived on a Tuesday morning and were met by Victor, who was so incredibly helpful to us. Like it says in the name, Villaverde is a rural location and on the night we were there the restaurant was closed, but he very kindly gave us a really excellent recommendation to another restaurant (Al Horno) a short walk up the road. The following day the restaurant at the hotel was open and we had a really wonderful lunch with a very delicious wine from nearby Lanzarote. The room itself was large and comfortable with an impressive four-poster bed. It was a little chilly the night we were there and one of the staff brought extra blankets to our room just in case (we're from London so of course didn't find it cold at all!). The swimming pool was enclosed so we were still able to go for a quick dip at the end of the day. Victor really went above and beyond for us as a host - at one point we had managed to walk to the nearby village of Tindaya only to find that there was nothing open for a drink (or anything else!). We messaged Victor and he responded instantly with the number of a local taxi company to get us back to the hotel, saving us a 2-hour walk. The following day we did not need to leave until 3 pm for the airport, and he was able to be flexible and allow us to keep our bags in our room until then as the hotel was not busy, which was so helpful for us.
