The reception lady on that day was so nice and helpful I can’t wait to come back again
Set in a beautiful 19th-century Canarian country house, Hotel Rural El Refugio offers charming rooms overlooking the picturesque countryside surrounding Tejeda. It features an outdoor swimming pool.
Nice sleepy town on west of island
Not much going on there but seems to support a farming community
Eating very limited in the town if you want to find Canarian or Spanish food.
Nice base for a couple of days of sightseeing

Nothing much to do or see in the town although the centre square was pleasant. The town was quite run down but some effort had been made in places to brighten it up
A couple of nice places to eat but had to hunt them out - especially La Salento just outside town which was fabulous for dinner
Definitely not geared up for tourists but would have potential

La Aldea de San Nicolas is a village-town, it is quiet and completely different from Mas Palomas. Ideall for few days to take rest from tourists and ideall place to make some trips for less visited places in Gran Canaria.

Hotel location in small village, if you are looking for peace this is perfect place.
Balcony views are amazing from the room.
Hotel smells good inside.
Rooms are good.
Jacuzi near the pool is nice and warm but a bit small.
Always space for parking under the hotel or at the street (you need a car if you will stay here, because an hour drive from las palmas or airport)
Staff is super friendly.
There is elevator and you can even go on the roof.
Food quality was okay for me, I did enjoy it, but sometimes the hot items were cold.
My 4th time here. Whenever I am in Gran Canaria I make sure to spend 2 or 3 nights here
Pool is a lovely place to chill out, great being surrounded by the mountains.
It was very quiet this time so not the normal buffet but the staff gave me an extensive selection list of breakfast items which I completed the night before. No problem.
The Hotel and the rooms always smell so clean and the decor, although showing it's age in places, is tasteful and inviting
This is a great location right on the promenade, although of course that makes it very public with everyone looking into your room. The studio is modern and very nicely decorated and has everything you need. There are 4 restaurants within 50m. Parking is in a public car park 100m away. The nearest shops are in La Aldera de San Nicolas. Elena is a very helpful host. The sound of the sea was ever present!
Amazing breakfist with cava and fresh products! Great location, close to beautiful sites of the island. Very clean and spacious room, they clean the room every morning . Beautiful view out of the balcony. Very friendly and helpfull staff. There parking in the street of the hotel, when it's full there is parking in the next street.
Our room was on a quaint town square including a church and several restaurants where town folk come to socialize. The office where the main hotel is located includes a pool and jacuzzi as well as the buffet area. Loved this place to use as our home base while visiting beaches and sightseeing.
We have stayed here before about 3 yrs ago. The standards of the hotel remain. Everything kept very clean and tidy. Lovely airy room. Daily house keeping. Fantastic options for breakfast, undertaken as a buffet. Loved the small swimming pool and jacuzzi.
The whole hotel was immaculately clean, smells lovely and seems out of place in a tiny town. It could easily compete in a much larger place. Breakfast was excellent and varied, the beds comfortable and the ambience very relaxed and friendly.
Really good standard, hotel looks fresh, nice view from the terrace. Very good internet connection. Breakfast - a variety of choices, cold/warm plate.
Very nice staff at the reception, check-in process was very smooth.
The hotel environment is in a quiet and cozy area surrounded by high mountains. The jacuzzi of the hotel was good. The breakfast was good. The suite was big enough, spacious and clean. Overall, we had a good time.
