Pontevedra is a must on anyone's list visiting the north of Spain. I have fallen in love with the town and will definitely be back when I can. It is clean and has an old town charm about it and very easy to get around. Loads of history and also enough to keep you busy on an evening for a night filled with tapas and wine. Also, best churros I have ever had.

The people in Pontevedra were lovely.
The people in Pontevedra were lovely. Very friendly & helpful. Food & drink were value for money & always good quality. It feels very ‘Spanish’ & not too touristy. Totally recommend for a mainland stay.

Pontevedra is a very pretty city. The old town area is large and stylish and has all the tourist needs like amazing food and drink places, accommodation, markets and shops and it's been fully pedestrianised. Also is surrounded by amazing beaches and trekking paths.

Pontevedra has a charming old city center, with its two-storied houses and its porticoes. As a pilgrim, I recommend a visit to the cathedral and to the monastery complex, and a casual stroll about the streets. Though I know there is much more to see and to do in Pontevedra besides passing by. There are restaurants for every taste, ranging from fast food and pizzas to the local gastronomy, which is very rich and tasty - the fish and the octopus. If there is one thing I really didn't like (at all), it was the bus station, which looks abandoned. If you must travel by bus, you'd better go directly to the bus parking place and try to find someone to talk to over there - or ask a bus driver.

Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit.
Pontevedra (and surrounding areas) is a must to visit. The food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed - so a great place to go if you want to get away. It has history, culture and the walk along the river is priceless (either for sport or just to relax). The people are great too. Pontevedra is a great city to walk in (you can tell there's been a big push for pedestrians in preference to cars!)

Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail.
Great city to visit, well of the tourist trail. Lots of bars & restaurants, especially in the old city. Did a trip to the Atlantic coast which was well worth the effort. Stunning views out to the islands.
The hotel is excellent -- mid-sized, nice rooms, very good service from check-in staff, bar staff, and housekeepers. The location is a "two-edged sword," however. I loved being in the historic heart of Pontevedra; it's a lovely city to explore. There are wonderful shops, cafes, restaurants and architecture within a short walk. And if you need modern shops the newer section of town is a short walk along the newly pedestrianized street. Had it not been for the noise (see below) I'd rate this hotel a ten. A perfect stay. But ...
Casa do Fontan is a beautiful property situated in the hills above pontevedra. The host was so helpful in giving advice of local places to visit; we particularly loved the natural swimming areas in the rivers close by. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to explore rural Spain at its finest. It’s calm and peaceful, the kitchen is fully equipped and the rooms provide all the facilities that you need for a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend casa do fontan to our friends and family!
Location, location, location!!!! In the heart of old town pontevedra.
Great for families as it's almost like two separate apartments. So much privacy.
Spotless, has anything you need.
As a small group traveling the Camino we had confusing and changing arrival times. The hostess was so accommodating, was wonderful after a long day walking. Would highly recommend this establishment.
The apartment was clean and comfortable with great access to the town. The host was so reliable, meeting us at the apartment when we arrived as we had emailed him when we were a few km away while walking the Camino. He apologized for not speaking much English. I find an apology kind of cute, but unnecessary since I am the one who can’t speak Spanish while in Spain.
We arrived very late due to heavy rain. It’s located at the end of the old town and the start of Camino route. It looks like a castle and rooms r big with big bathroom with a bath tub. The decor is very ancient as the hotel was open in 1928 n I think most of the furniture was from that time. We had a very late dinner n the food was excellent.
This is a really nice place right in the heart of Pontevedra. The owner was super helpful. I would highly recommend this place. One of the best places I stayed at while hiking the Portuguese Camino. Again, I would highly recommend this place. Loved it!
The shared living spaces were nice. A big living room with a dinning table and a big enough kitchen.
Really good spot if youre spending your time in Pontevedra with friends as you get the living spaces to talk, even read a book.
Lovely clean comfortable room very close to the old centre of Pontevedra. And I was overjoyed at seeing the bathtub after my 40km walk from O Porriño! The bed was particularly comfortable. A lovely stay, thank you.
The staff was great. They answered all my questions and gave me directions to the city center. This hotel is close to bars, restaurants and the grocery stores. It is located on the Camino route. Great shower!
Hotel is modern, with free coffee and water facilities at the lobby. Staff is helpfull although not fluent in English.Bedding is clean and comfortable. Location is close to the Armenteira Monastry.
I enjoyed the Hotel Madrid very much. My room was small and the window overlooked the inside of building. Other than that it was in a great location. And it had a coffee cafe attached.
Hotel virgen del camino is a nice and very confortable hotel. Rooms are clean and nice. It's in the city centre near restaurants and shops.
I highly reccomend It.
