I think it has a great location. I booked it one year before and forgot to mention I want the view side, so we were looking at the wall from our room. But great location and easy to go with train + cremallera.

Communication before arrival was excellent.
The check-in and check-out procedures were easy.
Quiet place with a lovely atmosphere.
If you’re looking for an authentic Spanish experience with comfortable beds, this place is for you! It’s slightly off the beaten path, but the price is fair, and the location was easy to find, even at night, with Google Maps. The roads to the spot are easy to navigate - no complaints.
We were three people, and we thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. The morning mountain views are amazing. We also had a small separate kitchen, which was very convenient for cooking or talking while others were still sleeping. The shower room was spacious and modern, and the rooms were cozy and authentic.
I totally recommend this place.
For reference, the previous night we stayed in a modern hotel in Barcelona. Although we usually prefer everything brand new and modern, this place beats it on so many levels.
Thank you to the owners and the hotel staff for their dedication and hard work.

The staff were fantastic, very accommodating. We could not get a meal there as it was Monday (cook's day off I guess) and the guys at reception went out of their way to organise a takeaway from a local restaurant. It is a bit run down and weirdly there is no balcony furniture at all. It has lovely grounds, a large pool, basketball court and is surrounded by trees. We even saw a wild boar close by. Despite its run down air we would definitely stay again.

Ferran was extremely helpful and helped direct me to the property with the best route from Barcelona. On arriving, he met me and handed me the keys and sent me the location of the supermarket. The apartment was perfect and the town is beautiful - the perfect place to stay if you are planning on going hiking up Montserrat!

The best is to arrive in the second part of the day and stay over night when it is less crowded to enjoy the views and silence.
There are few trails around the monastery. You may walk one of them before sunset and in the morning you may go to San Jeroni and enjoy the views before its too hot. You may ask for a trail map in the information office.
You may go to San Jeroni without using funicular , just take steps next to Abbat Oliba statue and you will see pointers. You may also buy water in the machine in the hostel next to the statue.
In the evening noone asked for a ticket to see Madonna although if you stay in the hotel you have free access anyway.

As shown in any photo of the place, Montserrat is one of the most beautiful religious sights on the planet. It is also packed all day with thousands of pilgrims and other visitors. I enjoyed the Sant Joan funicular up the mountain from the Monastery, then the scenic 45 minute walk back down, with panoramic views of the surrounding country, all the way to Barcelona. Staying on site was key, as things were much nicer after 5-6pm when all the crowds left. I stayed there overnight partly to see the 6:30 choir practice of the Escalonia Choir. Supposedly it is "Europe's oldest boys choir." I believe that, since the choir that I saw practice at that particular time, averaged 60-70 years in age! Evening was also nice in the cave-like rocks along the mountain side of the Cathedral, where there were thousands and thousands of lit candles left by the faithful during the day.

We loved the cathedral and the easy access to the Virgin.
We loved the cathedral and the easy access to the Virgin. We then took the train to the top and went for a great hike. The views are astonishing. Having read about really expensive parking up there, we were a bit afraid. However, hotel guests get a reduction and parking fees are very reasonable. This place is really worth a visit.

Montserrat is unmissable..
Montserrat is unmissable.. Ingrown on the rock mountains offers an unparalleled landscape and van be accessed by train or by road both fantastic. A funicular takes visitors even higher. Good hotels and restaurants. Excelent visit for one or two days maximum or much more for resting purposes.
Location is great. We are happy that we have decided to overnight here, night experience is so different, and it gives the opportunity to visit Madonna and basilica early in the morning, without other people.
Breakfast in the hotel is very convenient.
very friendly staff, if you cannot speak Spanish the lovely staff speak very good English, great location close to Montserrat with lots of hikes, amazing views, dogs allowed
