I felt that I was arriving to visit friends. Wonderful people. The "Hof" is restored with highly evident professional expetise and care. The room was well appointed, impeccably clean, and very quiet. View on the garden. Breakfast was lovely.

Streufdorf is right on the border between Bavaria and...
Streufdorf is right on the border between Bavaria and Thüringen, which, of course, was until 1990 the border between the DDR and the BRD. The area is loaded with history and has a great little museum (in German).
We were there to hike along the old border (now a nature preserve called Grünes Band). It is very rural. There is little public transportation. Bicycles are an excellent resource, and the area is very well set up and popular with cyclists.
