The best thing about Lörrach is that it is near the Fondation Beyeler and Basel but with less expensive lodging and restaurants.
The Greek restaurant next to our hotel was fantastic! We ate there twice but there were several other restaurants nearby.

nice and calm city close to Basel. There are a lot of different restaurants: a good place to stay. There are also very good, rich and cheap malls.
It misses just a bit of personality: most of the historycal center has been completely renewed. I.e. a little town close to Lörrach , Schopfheim, has a very nice and special city center

Once in the hotel, it was a different world compared to the area outside the front door.
Very basic but clean and modern.
We only used it as a stopover going south, so it was ideal. The Swiss border (abandoned post, it looks like) is just a 5 min walk.
I recommend the chicken place next door for a simple dinner.
Beautiful room And restaurant. Amazing view. Very nice owners. For others travellers: If you come from Basel take the train to Zell to Lorrach Banshoff station or Museum station. Then take the bus no 8 in front of the train station to the Dorfstrase bus station.
Perfect location, very nice hotel, nice and helpful owner Peter. Additional, in every room You can find pictures on the walls, who were made by an artist Dorothee Rothbrust - don't miss, they are worth to see!
