Warm, charming, inviting. Best to remember it is a house that had been converted into a hotel so that bathroom is small and the floors squeak. But this did not affect our stay at all. Also given it is in a small village, we were so grateful the restaurant on the ground floor stayed open till late.

Very clean basic hotel room, well maintained. The bed was comfortable and everything worked. The host and his wife were very friendly and helpful. They are of Greek origin and also speak good English. It has a cosy bar and a nice beer garden at the rear. The restaurant serves excellent Greek cuisine as well as German favourites. Good cold buffet breakfast was included. Located close to the centre of this very beautiful riverside town. The tourist information office is next door.

The first thing to advise is that the Hotel isn't really in Holzappel. Instead you have to go to the small village of Dies and Bruchhauser Hotel is signposted from there, to the South of Dies and about half a mile away.
Owners are very friendly and some conversed in English, my German is not very good !
