The Gasthaus is up a long winding hilly road, so if you've driven 5 hours then have to drive up this road at the end of your journey (as I did), be prepared for a long climb (there is one quite sharp turn you might nearly miss with a small yellow sign that says Hof, the name of the village). But once you're up there, the views are stunning. The small village is very quiet and for this reason, I slept well (and the comfortable bed). The house is rustic, has a lovely lived in feel, the whole environment very chill. My 2nd floor room had a short balcony and a spectacular view. A good place to relax in the countryside with some great hikes into the surrounding hills and villages. My room had a shared bathroom, which was clean and almost always available. Internet was good. Breakfast was basic: good bread, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, fruit and juice. The eating area was comfortable and all the guests friendly in this rustic, natural environment (a lot of hikers and cyclists). Owner spoke decent English so check in was easy. He had drinks and beer available to buy at all hours and there is a well-stocked Rewe supermarket about 10 min. drive. Would definitely stay again to enjoy the peace and quiet.

It’s a great hotel. Very comfortable with attentive staff. Good dinner and breakfast. We walked up the hill from the village, along a track on the right as the houses finish - a gentle climb up to the crest and a view into Switzerland. Then back via the ski drag lift top to Gersbach - 1.5 hours of alpine meadows and skylarks. Descent is by a steep road back to hotel. A great short walk.

Family run hotel with charming staff whose English was much better than my German. As a solo traveller I felt welcomed.
1,000 metes above sea level with magnificent views of the Black Forest (southern end) and footpaths lead out from the hotel.
Dinner was top quality and the style of cooking was creative and healthy. Coffee at breakfast was the best I've ever had.
Nice dining table and bed linen.
