If you are looking for a short break on your longer journey towards Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest then Dresden comes recommended. Especially if you are a bit of history buff or have a thing for art. We didn't have the time but if we had stayed a day longer then visiting the Albertina Museum would certainly have been on the cards. Highly recommended is the 'free walking tour', something we pretty much always do in every city we visit and we have never had a bad experience with those.

I just love this city centre with its wealth of 18th century...
I just love this city centre with its wealth of 18th century history, churches, parks and galleries. If you like art and architecture, culture and the arts, this is the ideal city. Of course, most of it is reconstructed and the detail is amazing. Many of the buildings are about 25 years old if that but look so authentic. There are many great places to eat and drink, great hotels and you can go on a day river cruise to Meissen or Pilnitz on an authentic 19th century steam boat.

We stayed in Dresden for 5 days. We were there during the Dresdner Frühjahrsmarkt, so we sampled some of the local food and drinks- everything was delicious.
Our hotel was just outside of the old town and it was really easy to reach all major sights on foot. And we did some shopping too with many shops near our hotel.
We took a cruise to Blasewitz with a steam boat on the Elbe- it was a great experience. We also travelled to Görlitz with a train for a day and it was a charming little town near the "border" with Poland.

Walking through the old town of Dresden was amazing. The city center was destroyed in WWII and lay in ruins throughout soviet occupation. Dresden was rebuilt after reunification. It's like walking through the old city of Dresden, but everything is new and clean and nothing is broken or showing signs of any decay. Amazing. Apparently not many American visitors. Few spoke English. Added to the ambiance. Bring your Google translate app.
Lovely architecture; beautiful natural setting; great museums and music venues. Great food. Excellent public tram system as well as scooters to rent. I will avoid hostels and spend more money to stay in a hotel. I enjoyed the Hygiene and City museums. I'll be back for sure!

Very beautiful city. The historic center is very impressive considering that it was almost entirely rebuilt after 1945. I highly recommend the Old Masters Gallery in Zwinger. This is an unforgettable experience!
We just wanted to have a reasonably priced accommodation for a night for our visit in Dresden. The hotel is a bit remotely located compared to the city centre but with public transport, everything can be reached. The hotel was just perfect for our needs, with spacious rooms, and quality service. In addition, the breakfast has a big choice of meals and drinks, which was just perfect. We totally enjoyed the stay and we are looking forward to staying in this hotel again!
Am a regular here and it's a no-brainer for me when it comes to choosing a stay at Dresden it's always this hotel. Perfect location, quiet, 15 minutes walk from the center. The rooms are super clean, the bed is comfortable. I get the best sleep here. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They always give a discount for parking. This time I came with a puppy and they were so lovely with him. They even prepared dog plates for water and some dog snacks in the room.
Location was great. Right down the street from the Zwinger and within walking distance of the hustle and bustle of old Town Dresden while the hotel itself was nice and quiet. The rooms were nicely sized and the breakfast was great, too. Having been here for the Christmas markets, there was alittle Glühwein stand right outside and a gluehwein tent across the street. The christmas markets were also all within walking distance .. we had a great time.
We had a very nice stay in this hotel. There is a lovely inner yard where one can sit with a glass of wine and enjoy time. It's possible to rent bikes and to travel around, the hotel kindly puts some water for you in the basket of the bike. The city centre is withing 10 minutes walk and you have a lovely view on the city from the hotel. Beautiful place to stay in Dresden.
Very calm and quiet place. Only one bus ride to the Dresden old town (Bus number 68) and the bus stop is in front of the hotel. Adequate parking with in hotel. Nice view from the rooms - overlooking the valley and the old town as the hotel is located on a hilly area. Nice clean and comfy rooms, nice staff and good breakfast.
Hotel is located close to the main attractions and you can walk to the Old Town via a nice park. Rooms are clean and there is a heated floor in the bathroom. Hotel’s personnel is very friendly and helpful. And we really enjoyed the breakfasts. In general the hotel is a good option for a weekend gateway to discover Dresden.
The hotel is perhaps mot the most glamorous one, but has everything you need to feel welcomed and comfortable. Located just 10 minutes walking from Dresden old town offers underground spacious parking places. Nice staff at the counter and restaurant. Good bed and shower. Water in the chiller. the location of the hotel is right next to the Frauenkirche. we could easily reach everywhere we wanted to visit by walk. the bathtub is huge and deep. I had relaxed a lot after a long walking day. btw, if it’s your first time to visit in Dresden, don’t miss up the best chocolate shop camondas! enjoy the stay 😉
Very clean and modern hotel that is just a few steps from everything that I wanted to do and see in Dresden. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and spoke English very well. It’s got all the comforts of home. I sent a message for information before we arrived and received it the next day. Right off the tram lines so easy to get to the shopping of Dresden. The property is always clean and breakfast is premium. We come to Dresden often and always stay at this fine Hotel.
The great location with S Bahn, tram stops, restaurants, supermarkets and just few tram stops to the old town. The specious space with full kitchenware and comfy mattresses. Those above made us a four-day cozy stay in Dresden.
