Very nice and welcoming staff. The property is calm with amazing views and have bird feeding at the door of the villa which was incredible to watch from inside. The complementary breakfast with views was amazing!

The hotel is located 7 minutes from the entrance to the nature reserve (Nacional Volcán Poás) so when we landed in San Jose we drove straight to it from the airport. The place is very quiet and the room was very nicely decorated! Unfortunately we stayed at this hotel only one night.
Located just outside the Poas Volcano National Park, Hotel La Paz offers a popular churrasco steak restaurant. The functional rooms and bungalows have free Wi-Fi and garden views.

Spacious room, convenient location if you want to visit poas volcano. Friendly staff and very clean.
Boasting a garden and views of garden, Hotel & Spa Escondite de la Montaña is a recently renovated chalet set in Sabana Redonda, 12 km from Poas National Park.
Good roads but narrow as usual thru towns. Different landscape with the farms and greenhouses and coffee plantations in rolling hills. Waterfalls.
Loved the drifting clouds coming up the valleys in the evening. Cool evenings and warm days.

We went to La Paz Waterfall gardens and it was an amazing place. You could easily spend an entire day there. Also the area is known for strawberries. We bought some from a roadside stand and they were delicious.

This was a great stopping place for us and is close to La Paz, Poas Volcano, and Doka Coffee Plantation. We stayed here after visiting La Paz Waterfall Gardens (which is worth the cost to visit), and then just had a short drive to Poas the following morning. We only stayed one night, and didn't get to visit the town, but its location is perfect for a stopover while visiting the nearby sites.

Very pleasant highland area stay base with short distances with private car to Poas volcano and La Paz waterfall area. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, some king of personal touch brought to mind old-style country villas in Eastern or Southern Africa - very easy to feel home. Very good birding opportunities on the hotel ground, around the hotel and on the trails. We were sad to leave the place after two nights - it would have been so nice to stay longer.
Lovely location, with trails around the property. Independent family run hotel. For warmer days there were outdoor facilities (BBQ grill, swimming pool, games). Onsite restaurant was open for dinner and again for breakfast. There was also a fridge in reception with water/soft drinks/milk/snacks for purchase.
This hotel is amazingly situated with a fantastic view over the forest. The waterfalls are very nice and there is a small zoo as well which is pretty cool -.especially for the kids.
The bathtub on the balcony is great.
The stuff was friendly and the hotel has a lot of entertainments on its territory - badminton, minigolf, pool, etc. The location is also very convenient ot visit the Poas volcano.
