Fortuna is amazing - weather was perfect (summer weather but not too hot especially on the trails / hikes), had a bit of rain but we got quite lucky and avoided it for the most part. Foliage is some of the most beautiful I've seen, mix of tropical and rainforest. Would highly recommend doing a waterfall rappelling tour & a chocolate tour (Don Olivo). Wish we could have stayed longer to do more nature tours to see animals, though we did see a sloth our last day on Bogarin trail (it's quite hard to find yourselves, would recommend following a tour guide). Next time I'd also stay closer to city center and at a larger hotel - we stayed at a boutique and it was very nice, but a bit hard to transport around and hard to communicate as we only speak a little Spanish.

If you have no need for the beach, then La Fortuna is excellent. However, if want to visit a beach, it's up to you if a 3 or 4 hour drive is worth it for the Hot Springs. Because, Jaco and other beach destinations also have waterfalls and other activities in common with La Fortuna, but they don't have the hot Springs

Fablous facilities and numerous options for activities, the waterfall is magnificent, a good climb back up ,real cardio workout, but worth it.The rio celeste river is a must see ,amazing blue colour, about 2hrs from Fortuna but worth the trip

It's beautiful! Wonderful food and people. We liked the waterfall repelling, spent half a day at the rope swing, major highlight of the trip, didn't spend a lot of time in town, loved the Fortuna waterfall, didn't prefer the free hot springs. We are a family with 3 teenage boys. We would have liked more time here to explore and visit another hot spring/spa.
This friendly family owned and operated hotel has several recently constructed cabins surrounded by jungle. We were able to see toucans, chukalukas and an agouti from our balcony along with numerous other birds. Our Tico patron was very helpful and informative on activities in the area and his family provided us with a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. This hotel is a short driving distance from the centre of La Fortuna which sits at the base of Volcan Arenal. We were a party of 5 adults using 3 cabins and all of us enjoyed our stay.
everything! this place was heaven on earth. the staff was amazing. the room was nice. the bed was so comfortable. bed night sleep in La Fortuna. the food at the restaurant, dinner and breakfast was really good. the property itself was very beautiful. there are hot springs that are not inside the property. you can walk about 5 mins to it, which is a nice walk or take a shuttle provided by the hotel. once at the hot springs the vibe and the beauty of this place is AMAZING! it is a must do if in Fortuna.
The property is expansive and beautiful. A few walking trails that are well maintained. There are several pools, a pool slide, and even a zip line ride on premises. Two of the pools are geothermal but only warm not hot. One of them is the swim-up pool bar that serves drinks and food. The property is in a great location to stage your tours, and only a 2000 crc ($3 usd!) ride to downtown La Fortuna. All of the hotel staff are wonderful except one guy that I’ll talk about below.
It’s very well located, close to the little town of La Fortuna and the main attractions and easy to find. The staff are very friendly and the place has beautiful nature surrounding it. You do feel like you’re in an oasis. The rooms are very spacious. The staff clean out your room every day and leave the towels in the shape of an animal, which is a nice surprise for when you get back to the hotel. The breakfast is not buffet style but it was delicious.
The perfect place to cozy up for a few nights while seeing all that La Fortuna has to offer. The complimentary breakfasts were authentic & great, the staff was absolutely amazing and always on site if needed. They all spoke good English too for folks who are traveling from English speaking countries. The only thing I would do differently next time is call the hotel directly to reserve - to avoid booking.com fees (around $50 extra)
Fabulous view of the volcano. Lovely to wake up to hear the birds chirping. Great breakfast watching the birds at the feeders, we even had sloths in our trees. How exciting! The staff were very friendly and super helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and I had a great view over the beautiful garden and swimming pools. Thank you Hotel Secreto La Fortuna very a lovely time in La Fortuna.

This is a wonderful hotel. The location is beautiful and really close to everything in La Fortuna. Each room is hidden in beautiful tropical greenery, and really comfortable. The breakfast is delicious with many options and the staff are all extremely kind and helpful, with great attention to detail. The pool is also lovely. There is no breakfast. It’s a new hotel so super clean and comfortable. The property feels secure as there is a gate that is locked at 6pm - only guests have the code. As two females this was important to us. And we walked everywhere in La Fortuna town from here very easily. Go to the chocolate shop! There is a great view of the Arenal volcano from the shared kitchen area.
The location was excellent, with tremendous views of the Arenal Volcano while also being an easy drive to the retail part of La Fortuna as well as outdoor activities. Our room and all public spaces we immaculately clean, and the landscaping was lovely and beautifully maintained. It was great to have the privacy of an individual casita vs a standard hotel room.
Breakfast was excellent; location was very convenient. Great for walking. The bonus was the opportunity to visit the thermal spring as part of the registration--this was convenient as well. Hotel well situated to Fortuna and was walking distance. Safe and close to everything. Great views of Arenal in the town and close to grocery and shopping.

This hotel was a nice find near la Fortuna, and it is close to the main points (hot springs, volcano) the view of the volcano is amazing! Also the restaurant came as a nice surprise since we were not expecting such great food, so we didn't even had to leave the hotel to find dinner. It is great value for money!
The room was spacious and the location of the hotel is in a nicer quieter part of La Fortuna, quite near the waterfall. The hotel owners are very kind and friendly. The breakfast available onsite is quite good. The hotel grounds are a lush jungle garden.
