This place is literally infested with mosquitos - repellent and other solutions are not an option. Be prepared for lot of mozzie bites regardless of your precautions. Best idea is not to go outside between 4pm-7pm. Wear long pants whenever you go out.
Best (and really only) places to stay are Colsubsidio and Compensar. The rest have few facitlities and little value for money. Especially not rated: GHL Relax hotel - awful!

Staying at Girardot it was a great choice, warm and beautiful weather, locals are really friendly, even street sellers are so funny, safe city, great to do outdoor activities, there is the Magdalena river nice to go a sight-seen after a horse back riding. Great for friends, family and couples.
The apartment is located in a very quiet area of Girardot, with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. I found everything in order and neat, very well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable vacation. The complex stands out for its large pool, full of palm trees and internal and external green areas. The host is very cordial and helpful, I had a personal emergency and he was always on top of it to help me and thus be able to solve it calmly.
Without a doubt, one of the best, if not the best vacation option in Girardot. This community, Condominio Campestre El Peñon, is very secure, conveniently located and offers you everything you may want and more.
The two-story house is very comfortable with a tasteful design inside. The swimming pool is beyond your expectations, offering underwater massage, shower, stairs, and what not.
One of the most useful thing in the hotel is the availability! You could find anything, gym, good food, great spots.

The jacuzzi was excellent, the hydromassage was very relaxing, the swimming pool has a cascade which we enjoyed too. breakfast was delicious. We could park the car inside the hotel.
