Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

Beautiful city, perfect for getting about by comprehensive public transport network that's free for anyone staying in a hotel, including the 7 minute train from the airport to the central station - your hotel automatically sends you a link for your pass. Great for foodies, history buffs and nature lovers. Red squirrels in Bastion Park. All sorts of water birds on the lake and river. Amazing persimmon trees laden with fruit in the botanic gardens. Great fondu, raclette, crepes and chocolate, but at a hefty price. Sadly the famous Jet d'Eau water spout wasn't running due to maintenance till end November. Autumn tree colours were beautiful. Loved the lit up cobblestones with different languages at Place Molard, the Reformers Wall in Bastion Park, the archaeological walk under the cathedral with the mosaic pavement, Roman and earlier finds, the medieval buildings, streets, fountains and historical sites of the Old town including the Maison Tavel where you pay what you want to visit, and the Hotel de Ville town hall where the first Geneva Convention was signed, and the canons and mosaic wall art opposite. Got the obligatory photos of the giant broken chair sculpture and the flags at the United Nations HQ. Didn't have time to visit CERN for the large hadron collider, or visit the art & history museum. I'll just have to come back!

It's a wonderful city to explore on foot; great scenery, great restaurants, lots of history and interesting cultural sites. Fall is a lovely time of year to be there. For restaurants, my wife and I loved Bistrot du Boeuf Rouge; it was by far the best restaurant we ate it in Geneva!!

Geneva is not the most attractive city in the world.
Geneva is not the most attractive city in the world. Still the historic center, United nations and the lake are wonderful to visit and see. HOWEVER, it is close to great places to visit like Annecy, Chamonix (Mont Blanc), Lausanne, Montreux, Evian, even Lyon, Germat, or Gruyere (a little bit more driving). So it is the center of many things! Good for two to ten days trips!

Geneva is a lovely place to visit. The transport system is very efficient, making it easy to get around. We have seen the Jet d'Eau and the old town, both of which are beautiful. The cheese fondue, pizza, and pasta are superb!

First trip to Geneva was enhanced by a friend who is a five-year resident of the city and an eight year resident of the surrounding area. Since she works for the UN we were able to take in sites and have opportunities not afforded to others. However, I did go on the red bus tour of the city of Geneva totally worth it and I would recommend, asking for assistance when you’re taking the train from the main station because some of the departure arrival information only listed in French can be confusing. The weather was absolutely perfect. The air was so clean and to take the boat from Lake Geneva to places along the border in France was just an absolute thrill. Geneva is a very pricey city. There’s no doubt about it Food is where you’re gonna spend your most money as well as accommodations, but it is definitely a place to visit

We love the fact that we were given free transportation around Geneva. However, we only used the train from the airport and the water boat to get to Old Town. The gesture though was appreciated.
If you want a good dinner, it is best to make a reservation at least a day ahead. We made the mistake of not making any reservation and was turned away by at least 5 restaurants and ended up with KFC.
It is easy to see the different places on your own. We took the water boat across to the Old Town and visited St Peter's Cathedral, Promenade de la Treille, The Old Arsenal and a few other popular sites.
Took a 30 min train ride along the water front. It was a good ride and we got to see a lot of the lake side, United Nations and other beautiful buildings.

I found this quite a pleasant place to stay for a few days, it was my first visit to Switzerland.
There is parking both at the back of the hotel and in the underground car park. The man at reception spoke good English and told me how to get into the centre of Geneva. The No. 6 bus leaves from opposite the hotel and will get you into the city centre by the lake in 25 minutes. The room was modern, clean and comfortable.
Perfectly clean, very modern but not without character, friendly and professional staff, lots of those little amenities that make all the difference (standard toiletries + a few extras I didn't expect, nice touch with nuts, dates and tea/coffee available in common spaces, complimentary water, etc). Honestly the best hotel in it's class in Geneva, from someone who has samples ALL OF THEM for work in the last few months!
Lovely welcome from receptionist, told us all about how to get into town. We were fortunate to recieve a free public transport pass from Geneva Tourism, which made the perfect location as hotel is opposite a really nice shopping mall with eateries, and just opposite is the bus stop straight to the city centre... typical Ibis good value ! oh and parking under the hotel.
Great location for easy public transport access to Geneva City Centre. The hotel was also spotlessly clean, our room was very comfortable l, the inclusive breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful.
