Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we couldn't sit on the beautiful terrace overlooking the lake, but a good excuse to return in summer to enjoy the wonderful views.

The downtown is pretty and has several small restaurants. The palace on the hill (which is now a school) and the old town were fun to explore. The lake was the clear and clean and a great place to swim-the water was not too cold, but was refreshing. The old town in Murten which was nearby was also interesting and we enjoyed our time there.
There is a bike path on St. Peter's Island in Erlach, which goes through woods and wetlands. There were standing paddle boards to rent, but we couldn't find canoes or kayaks.
