Enjoyed my last stay and prefer hostels because only care about having bed. This time, I was in basement and it has a welcoming atmosphere down there that didn't expect. Was glad event went over for was right across street. So stumbling back wasn't a worry (even though watched my drink limit).

Nelson has great character.
Nelson has great character. Beautiful buildings, excellent restaurants and an amazing setting on. kootenay Lake. The only issue we had was parking was difficult to find but then, it was Valentine’s Day so maybe it’s not always so bad.

It is beautifully situated and the setting is picturesque. However the town is not pretty with too many ugly buildings of an industrial nature near the shoreline.

Nice little town.
Nice little town. Historic downtown with shops and restaurants, some of them open till late at night. Beautiful beaches close by. Taghum Beach, Six mile beach (with white sand -careful do not go and swim on the tip of the beach!), Kokanee Creek Provincial Park Beach are the most beautiful.
Great location, really friendly desk staff who could direct us to anything we asked about from specific bars to the street car. They kindly checked we had reservations for the hot springs we were going off next to visit- really great place to stay. Bonus kitchen facilities in the centre of the hotel, we didn’t use this but can see how useful that would be for travelling families on a budget. Photos of cottonwood falls, vegan charcuterie board at the witches children, fab music shop and the pitchfork for brunch. Thank you.
My first time to Nelson I found the hotel online and it stood out ! The location was perfect right from the moment I checked in. Shannon helped me renew my stay 2 times. I had only planned on I night. Even the man at the bar knew I drank coors beer. I asked for an extra shampoo and the lady gave me 3 ! I loved the numbers on the doors. I was married to a welder ! The room Shannon changed for me was as sweet as could be. Bed was great of course AC.
The apartment is very cozy yet there is space to spread out. The kitchen is fully stocked with pretty much anything you need to prepare a simple omelette, or a Holiday meal. The beds are amazingly comfortable. The sheets were so soft and a delight to sleep on. The apartment we stayed in was so quiet that we slept far later than we normally do. This was our second stay in this apartment, and it is now our go to place to stay in Nelson.
An early Sunday Breakfast on site [discounted due to our reservation at this property] was top tier; Artisan breads, local sausages and potato rosti in lieu of generic food items. The restaurant opened at 7am on Sunday which allowed an early getaway to our next destination. The pet friendly room [ 6? available] was non-smoking, too :) , although not listed as such. Check in/out was friendly and courteous.
The comfort, easy going nature, the people coming in and out, handiness of staying there when in Nelson, heat of the room, the manager Cindy was fantastic with everything and so was Kelly who worked there for anything I needed during my stay - made to feel very comfortable staying especially for the first time in a hostel. Would recommend to anyone to stay there and have done so since I left
The owners and staff are exceptional and communicating was easy. The location is near downtown. Quiet nights for good nights sleep. Comfortable bed. Cloudside is a very unique property with each room it’s own unique layout. We were very pleased with the amenities provided. I would recommend this hotel.
The hotel has the old world charm but everything is renovated and maintained perfectly. Excellent location, clean and comfortable room with all the necessary amenities. Lively entertainment on the patio, a lounge to relax. Good, complimentary breakfast served in a restaurant.
Super comfortable and relaxed. Felt like staying in your own place away from home. Great location and parking. Warm. Recycling. The fully fledged kitchen in the room was ideal for when we wanted to make dinner at home. If I'm back I'm Nelson I will try to stay here again .
Perfect location for enjoying downtown Nelson.
Room was small but very clean and comfortable. Very quiet and homey atmosphere. Would definitely stay here again, probably in one of the larger rooms facing the front. Really appreciated the real milk for tea in the morning!
The room was comfortable and the beds were really good. I usually have trouble sleeping In hotel rooms and here I easily slept through the night. The staff were very friendly as well. Great stay and will be back
Perfect location with views of the lake and access to a beach. Nelson is a short drive away. The suites are comfortable with small kitchens. We’ve stayed here several times and it’s always been wonderful.
The location is convenient, and the hostel has good kitchen and all the necessary amenities. The staff are great. This hostel is the most affordable place not only in Nelson, but in the whole area.
Mae Mae was so friendly! She made sure we had what we needed and answered any questions we had. So helpful when changing my reservation to be pet friendly at last minute. Beautiful view too!
Location was excellent, downtown and close to many things- walkable, Beds were comfortable and bathroom was modern with large walk in shower and heated towel rack. Also pet friendly
Great location, everything in walking distance. Professional, personal service. High standard of cleanliness in room and throughout the hotel. Extremely comfortable beds.
