The room was nice and clean, with an amazing view of the mountain and forest. We absolutely loved the location: of course, it is remote, but an opportunity to wake up and immediately be on the slopes the first thing in the morning could not be beaten. The level of service, and friendliness of the staff are amazing - they were always going an extra mile to help us with our questions: be it something simple or convoluted (we had to use Friends and Family discount of Icon Pass for the chair lift, which turned out to be a convoluted procedure, but everybody was willing to spend more time and figure out the solution for us). "Chimney Corner" restaurant is also excellent - both for quality of food and the service.

Last time I was in Banff was 24 years ago, and it hasn’t changed a bit, other than small bits of modern technology. It’s clean everywhere, extremely well maintained. It’s the kind of place you want to be frozen in time in almost every way, and that only thing they add is modern connectivity.
The Bad: is they rape your wallet at every turn.

Banff is a beautiful little town right in the mountains.
Banff is a beautiful little town right in the mountains. The views are fantastic and the walk along the Bow River is gorgeous. There are plenty of places to eat and drink, lots of shops and lots if things to do and see.
It’s easy to walk around as it isn’t big but it is flat. There are buses to nearby places you may wish to visit too.
One thing to note is that Banff is in a national park and as such there is a daily fee to be there.

Incredible natural beauty that starts right in the town of Banff and continues all around it. Glad I didn't visit during the busiest season though as it was already starting to be crowded, but much less then in the summer.

This time of year end of May was perfect not to hot not to cold ..it wasn't as busy as it is in the summer ..had so much fun will do it again soon..and love the spa cedar and sage highly recommend. Taxis were reasonably priced and there was always public transport from the hotel to mist places you needed or wanted to go
Location of the hotel was good, not quite in downtown Banff, so away from any noise/congestion but close enough to be able to walk into downtown easily in about 10 or 15 minutes. The room was cozy - with a VERY comfy and high bed with comfortable pillows and bedding, a large TV & a fireplace with a timer.
My favourite part of our stay was the mineral salt ( I think!) Hot tub; the ambience and design of the whole pool area, whilst small, was lovely and very relaxing. The staff were all super friendly and helpful
Great location in Banff right near Bear Street which has great bars, cafes and restaurants. Still an easy walk to the main drag, but you don't need to go anywhere else. If you've hired a rental car, it's an easy exit off the Trans Canada Highway, a short drive to Lynx Street and parking is right under the hotel. Laundry facilities downstairs which is handy if you've been on the road for a while! We ended paying to upgrade our initial booking to a loft room with bigger windows and a view. (see comments below)
The room was clean and well kept.
The common shower rooms were also kept very clean, which was an important consideration.
The staff were friendly. The bus passes were very helpful for travelling around Banff area.
Bear sprays were madr available to us for borrowing at no cost for our treks, which was a great plus point.
The location was 5 mins by bus to the downtown Banff, which connected us to buses to the Lake Louise, Lake Moraine and the treks.
Excellent stay experience.
If you are traveling and plan to stay in Banff National Park, there are several "high end" Hotels / Resorts. The Rim Rock is one of them. It is near the Banff Gondola and Hot Springs and convenient to the Bus that runs every 20 minutes or so to the center of Banff. The Views are incredible and the amenities are super. Not the cheapest place, but one of the best. Highly recommended for that "special" trip ... great in Winter as well as Summer.
After we arrived at Lake Louise, I found out that my wallet was lost. It was two days after I stayed at this hotel, but when I called to the front desk of this hotel, they said they had saved my wallet. They told me i can pick it up anytime. After we drove back to Banff from Lake Louise, I went to find my wallet and i didn’t lost anything from my wallet, Thank you very much for this hotel. I will check in again if I have a chance next time.
The place! View was amazing. And photos do not make justice for it really one needs to see this with one's own eyes. I think even better than the view of Fairmont hotel because it oversees Banff and Fairmont hotel and the dramatic backdrop behind them plus lake on the side plus green trees in 80% of one's sight. Simply perfect to grasp what this amazing place on earth really is. Bed very comfortable. Cheerful and talkative staff.
The best motel in Canada during my trip. The room was after remodelling, with remote access and large parking area. It is not cheap, but worth of this money. 10-15 minutes walk to the downtown. If you are in Banff to make some hiking, I recommend to stay there. However it is good to have your own car, because most of interesting trails are quite far from Banff.
Nice hotel in the center of Banff. Very nice price for the room. We were not interested in a room with a beautiful view, we only needed to stay overnight. Service is super. The rooms are well maintained. It is possible to have breakfast on site ( for a fee ) . Late check in, good wi fi , and if you like natural shampoos - they have them here. Cool👍
Staff are friendly, and room was huge with a great view! The hotel is right on Banff ave and close to a gas station if you need anything quickly. The bed was very comfortable and the room was nice and well kept. Also has one of the largest pools we’ve had in Banff! We will definitely return!
Loved the experience. We rented ski equipment from downtown Banff and it was delivered to the hotel the night before. We could also just let them at the reception when our day was over. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The complementary wood for the personal fireplace was a nice touch.
The cabins were cozy small but enough room to do everything you needed. Heating them was east, a little too easy, in the well-above freezing temps. These would be great in dead of winter. And the locations was so convenient to Banff and Lake Louise just 30 minutes away in either direction.
They allowed dogs and the fee $$ was more affordable then other hotel chains in Banff, we loved our room on ground level with patio door it was an awesome stay. And #1 best thing was the free breakfast and the coffee machine in the lobby! Lattes all day! It was a coffee lover dream!
This hotel is excellent! The room was spacious, clean, and very modern, the restaurant has good variety, excellent food, and a nice atmosphere, staff are very friendly, and the hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Banff.
The staff…exceptional. Fun, helpful. We stayed in a VERY expensive hotel in Lake Louise the three nights prior and our experience at the Canalta was 100% better! If we come back to the area we will for sure be back!
It has a good room size and a comfy bed. Banff Center is within walking distance, and the free Bus is outside the hotel. Very convenient. Free underground parking.
