I recently stayed at Belize Budget Suites in San Pedro, and it was fantastic! The entire property was spotless, with fresh linens and well-maintained facilities. The cozy suite felt like a home away from home, featuring comfortable furniture and a very comfy bed. Despite being close to the beach and attractions, it was wonderfully quiet and peaceful.
The suite was also impressively spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting area, and ample storage space—a rare find in budget accommodations. The staff I met, especially Jose, were very friendly. Nani was super helpful and responsive helping me with my questions about San Pedro via WhatsApp.
Overall, Belize Budget Suites offers an ideal blend of cleanliness, coziness, quietness, and spaciousness. Highly recommended!

The staff was amazing! The location was perfect! We stayed in the Stingray room, and you just go outside and the bar/pool was right there and the ocean just a few more feet back! Our daughter loved their hotel dog, Dakota, and we just had a wonderful time! They picked us up and dropped us off, and we set up all our excursions right from our own pier. They even helped our daughter catch her first fish! Great Resort!

I liked how access to the BnB was not from the main road. It felt secluded. Nice and quiet. Charming. Parking of golf cart was easy. About 10 minute drive to town.

The golf cart fumes were just maddening and the dust in your face as a result.
Finding a patch of sand beach vibes also required going 30-45 minutes away from where I was but it was worth it.
And eat at the Delis.....all the best food I had was there. Every recommendation of a nicer restaurant which only meant aesthetic is was nicer and the food was more.expensive, all those places the food was lackluster.
Everyone should go to the Iguana sanctuary and support!

Great place to be a beach bum!! Rent a golf cart to see much of Ambergris Caye. Go to Secret Beach and eat at a picnic table in the water. Go to Palapas Beach Bar to drink and float in the tubes. The best restaurant on the island is Aji Tapas. The food was always hot and great.Go slow and talk to the wonderful people who live and work there. The Truck Stop was a lot of fun with live miusic and New Haven pizza. I would go back to Ambergris Island to stay at Bella Vista resort for 2 weeks!!.

You you will pretty much be driving exclusively on golf...
You you will pretty much be driving exclusively on golf carts or mopads unless you prefer bicycles. The streets will be bumpy in most parts however, you can never get lost because everything circles back to the main road. Enjoy the people, the food and have a great time.

San Pedro felt like a whole different world from Belize City, and Belize City was a whole different world then where I'm from (Phoenix, AZ, USA). I loved driving around town in the golf cart (golf cart rentals are a must). Many little places to eat. This includes touristy restaurants and small very local places. Locals are very nice and sweet.

San Pedro is worth going to by ferry (San Pedro Express Water Taxi) which takes two hours one way. I would recommend going to San Pedro rather than staying in Belize City because it has everything; all the blue water and great activities and tours.
Great location. Convenient to town but not in the middle of San Pedro. Dock on property where you can snorkel and a dive company on that same dock. Beautiful views of the sea from our second floor balcony. Fruit stand out front which was great for breakfast. Parking across the street or along the side of the building to park your golf cart. They arranged our last minute request for a golf cart (ask them a week or so ahead of time to make it easier on them). Fully stocked kitchen. Plan to come again next year.
It is said to be one of the oldest hotels in the town, and it was probably great in its best times - furniture, room planning, size of the space - all of that was so good. The location was so close to the ferry terminal and local market, street food, restaurants...and right in front of the sea! They cleaned the room, changed the towels and refilled the water bottle. We had our keys locked inside of the room and the owner kindly came to rescue us, even though it was already almost 10pm. Thank you!
The location was great. It was a bit farther away from the noise and bustle of San Pedro but close enough that we could hop on our golf cart and be in town in about 10 minutes. We couldn’t believe our luck that we were in walking distance to the Truck Stop. We spend two nights there enjoying all the activities. Our breakfast each morning was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go and eat. I highly recommend this property.
The property was really close to the ferry port which was ideal after a long days travel. In San Pedro you NEED to hire a golf cart to get around and see anything, we rented ours from the hostel and they were the BEST prices by far. Rooms clean, hosts were great. Let us keep the room for an extra hour after check out so we could shower after our snorkel trip. would stay again!
Mahogany Bay's location is good if you want to explore San Pedro and the surrounding areas without being right in the mix of it all.
The bedrooms are comfy and the beds are nice and big.
The brownies at the coffee shop are out of this world - probably the best thing about the hotel...
We were greeted by the owner, he told us about the history of the building and made us feel very welcome. the hotel has big balconies with big benches for communal space. The linen and the pillows were pure luxury. It is located a few meters from a great coffee shop.
José, the manager, is absolutely friendly; he is always available to help you with all your requirements and give you the best recommendations on food, tours, and everything you need in San Pedro.
Far enough away from the craziness of San Pedro but still had everything that we needed. Staff was great, food and drinks were excellent and the whole experience was amazing.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and in a great location just outside of downtown San Pedro. Christine is so nice and helpful! 10/10 would recommend staying here!
