The check-in was quite smooth. The staff at the reception was quite friendly and welcoming. The rooms were a bit dated yet acceptably clean. The bed was comfortable to sleep on. From well-preserved city walls built in the 7th-century BC through to the early Medieval buildings. From the 4th-century Rotunda St. George and 10th-century Boyana Church with its stunning 13th-century frescoes to Socialist-era monumental constructions, Sofia offers a real treat for the city dwellers and history lovers.
Most of the popular landmarks are located in the Oborishte district, the most central part of the city featuring plenty of greenery, cobbled streets and the most popular landmark, the Neo-Byzantine Alexander Nevsky Cathedral.
Sofia offers plenty of natural sites too, including the renowned thermal and mineral springs, the primary reason Thracians established the city here before the 7th-century BC. The center is small and the most important can be seen in one day. It is not a matter of skipping the city, but I think that visiting Sofia has to be combined with going out of the city and visiting the amazing mountains of Bulgaria and other places.

There is lots to see and do in Sofia, so it’s worth staying a few days. Sofia is a city with a very rich history and culture. Consider doing a walking tour with Sofia Free Tours or checking out the Red Flat exhibit about daily life in Communist Bulgaria. There are also lots of museums to choose from on rainy days. There are all sorts of tours outside of Sofia as well (Rila monastery, wine tasting, cave exploring, and hiking). There are also many different types of restaurants to try.

I love Sofia this was my second trip there in 5 months. This time enroute to Veliko Tarnova.
It’s a busy city. Make sure if you fly to Sofia you take Yellow cabs.their charging system is very fair and I’ve met some really helpful cabbies.
Sofia is very alive and of course there is a very strong cultural quarter there with a Univercity and lots of interesting history and art.
Some of the buildings look a bit crumbly. However, there appears to be lots of improvements being made to the infrastructure. Building being modernised and brought into the 21 st century.
Nice place.

Sofia is a town with many churches of different denominations. It is easy to walk around and the metro is very easy to navigate. You can use your credit card to tap on and off and the trains are frequent, modern and comfortable. The train line from the airport is only about USD 2.00. The Rila Monastery outside of Sofia is a recommended day trip. Our tour cost Euro 35 per person. The most amazing thing is the archaeology. Throughout the city there is large numbers of archaeology digs exposing historical buildings, with Bulgarian and English interps.
The apartment is really nice, cosy and clean. IThe kitchen is fully equipped. It is in the city center close to main attractions and metro station - 5 min walk. I really enjoyed our stay in Ayki Apartment. We appreciated especially the warm welcome of the owner and our talks about Bulgarian culture, cuisine, literature and humour. He prepared a map with useful places and advise us what Bulgarian food we need to try. He was there when we needed to ask about something. I really recommended this place.
Simple and easy going place, friendly staff, good location - the city center is a 15 minutes' walk, and there is a metro station a few corners away. The furniture is retro Bulgarian, and so is the bathroom which features a shower without a shower cabin -.a typically Bulgarian idea found even in more upmarket accommodations sometimes. The balcony was a nice addition on a warm April night. The restaurant downstairs is operated by the same owners and it has been famous in the neighborhood.
This apartment was a most pleasant surprise. It is freshly renewed with great taste. It has everything you can think about, including washer/dryer, dishwasher, normal size fridge, AC, full kitchen, nice furnished living room, bedroom, even fireplace. It is located in the heart of Sofia, in front of tge parliament, on a street with plenty of restaurants and shops. The best place I stayed in during my trip to Bulgaria. Given I stayed mainly in high rated hotels at 7 different locations.
I would highly recommend Sofiel cozy apartment - Top Center Sofia not only because it is the best cosy apartment in the middle of Sofia, but also the owners are very polite and friendly!!! Easy Check-In and Out. Also when i arrived i was greeted by a small gift from the owners, which i didnt expect. For the people reading this comment and who have not visited Sofia, it is a perfect way to experience the capital of Bulgaria and especially bulgarian hospitality!
In the center of Sofia , very close to almost every historical place , very cosy , lift avaliable , central heating ,rest in silent , owner speaks , writes and understands English ( it’s important and very hard to find in Bulgaria ) We could’nt meet him , but he was very kind and friendly on the phone .
An advice ; La Biccicleta restaurant is very close and the best italian food in town , day&night !
Only one negative situation ; no free parking place
Situated right in the center but really quiet since the apartment is in a house in the back yard. Check-in was contactless and really easy. Everything (supermarket, bakery, bars, restaurants and sights) is nearby.
The apartment is nicely furnished, the bed comfortable and there is a nice coffee machine. It was exceptionally clean and the bathroom was the only one we had during our Bulgaria round trip with natural light.
You couldn’t ask for a better location. It is right in the city centre and the pedestrianised street of Vitosha is right on your doorstep. A lot of attractions can be explored on foot. The hotel is sorrounded by loads of restaurants. Cactus which is a highly rated restaurant is 3 minutes walk and the traditional Bulgarian restaurant Moma is also about 5 minutes walk. The room was massive and it was so quiet.
The place is very clean and tiny, with a sense of design. It's in one of the best neighborhoods where plenty of bars and restaurants are nearby and atmosphere is just so cozy. But also it's located on a quiet street so you get good sleep. There's also a common kitchen where you get free coffee and tea. Definitely a great choice for staying in Bulgaria!
Friendly desk staff . Very clean room. bedding towels and bathroom . Small cooker was ideal to cook some early morning eggs before travelling . Have stayed in some of the more expensive hotels like the Ramada . And this was as good for facilities . Would definitely recommend to friends and will be booking in again in return to Bulgaria .
Great location, value for money, superb breakfast, lovely city. Most importantly of all, the best hotel staff I have ever met. Very welcoming and informative about the city... places to eat, Bulgarian culture, directions etc ... all communicated with a jolly smile. Underground car park a short walk away by the metro station
Hotel in a good location next to the zoo. there is somewhere to park your car. Nice dry sauna (high temperature appropriate). The room and equipment are ok. The view of the zoo is ok, but the noise is worse. The reception staff was very nice and helpful. Rare in Bulgaria.
I liked how the host was thoughtful. I came from Boston and my charger wasn’t compatible with the power outlets in Bulgaria. However, my host left me a power adapter that connects my charger to the outlet. He/she saved my life!
Location in the centre of Bulgaria’s 🇧🇬capital, ideal for short walks in the central part; very close to historical monuments, art galleries, theaters, state institutions.
Very clean rooms, very kind and helpful staff
The location is simply perfect. The apartment is great, very clean and comfortable. The landlord was exceptionally kind and helpful! We stayed for 10 days. The next time I go to Bulgaria, I will stay there again!
Clean, tiny real Bulgarian residential property. In a local residential area, nice neighbours and convenient traffic, and it is quite big, especially for one person
No breakfast provided
Yogurt parfait for purchase was good
Location was interesting and convenient to city center, but far away from my Bulgarian business associate
