The tent was super comfortable with all the amenities. The location is amazing - super close to the South part of Addo Elephant Park, where if you're lucky you can even see animals in the park from the accommodation premises. It was also nice to have the pool, and you can also book a game reserve tour of Addo through them!

Offering safari-style accommodations, this lodge is situated right on the banks of the Sundays River. The terrace decks offer far-reaching river views.

Dungbeetle River‘s reception can arrange tours to the Addo Elephant National Park, just 3.5 km away. They can also reserve a shuttle service to Port Elizabeth Airport, a 30-minute drive away.

The owners and staff at Dungbeetle went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable stay. One of the owners actually drove us to see the nearby river and beach on a rainy day when we didn’t have plans. Breakfasts were amazing, so delicious. Thanks Leona. The location to Addo couldn’t be better. We booked two guided tours with Mike who was friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot and had fun seeing so many elephants, zebra, etc. We highly recommend the lovely, well-decorated and qcosy guesthouse and would certainly stay there if we return to the area.

Our family had the most pleasant stay! James & Bela are great hosts and were super accommodating and helpful. The two rooms are set up for everything you might need to make your stay comfortable and able to 100% self cater. It is also exceptionally clean and the beds super comfy. We will definitely be back again!

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

The Chalet was the perfect family get away for my family of 6. Karin and her staff were attentive, kind, and professional. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the breakfasts and dinners. The Kudu steak and ribs were fantastic!

Location needs own transport or reliable shuttle service as it is way out of Gqeberha. It is close to amenities too, there is a service station, a Spar and a very friendly staffed restaurant close by. There is also a lovely activity of Sundays River ferry. The accommodation is clean and fresh too.

Unassuming cabin for a couple to get away. Lovely spot to spend a few nights fishing and relaxing. Went to the local pub to watch the Springboks on the Saturday night, very close to the accommodation. We took a drive to Addo and saw the wildlife for the day, again really inexpensive. The cabin Is close quarters and intimate so perfect for a retreat from the city and work. I’d recommend for a holiday on a budget.
