Rain Forest Inn is located in Bertam Valley amidst the lush rainforest and cascading waterfalls. It offers locally handcrafted rooms from which views of the surrounding nature can be enjoyed.

Guests with a thirst for adventure can organise hiking or water sports activities. Airport shuttle and car rental services can also be arranged, and free parking is provided.

We brought our kids to stay at the Rainforest Inn because we wanted a unique cultural experience that is very different from the usual touristy attractions in Malaysia. In that aspect, Rainforest Inn greatly exceeded our expectations. For 3D2N, we lived a lite version of the Orang Asli Malaysian aboriginal lifestyle in a wooden traditional chalet hut, hand-built by Orang Aslis using trees from their land. The traditional chalet came with modern comforts like clean towels, bedsheets, blankets, thick spring mattresses, mosquito nets, electrical sockets and a fan. It was ensuite with a modern flushing sitting toilet and shower. We feasted on the Orang Asli dinner where rice was painstakingly wrapped in leaves and cooked in bamboo for hours. Their pineapple was especially sweet and tender. Their grilled chicken and mushroom bamboo soup were delicious too. We found it very meaningful to interact with Orang Aslis on their private land. Our kids played on a bamboo raft in a crystal-clear knee-deep stream with friendly Orang Asli children who came to play soccer, basketball and splash around. We learned from Mr Muin, an Orang Asli, about their hunting traps, weapons, tattoo/shampoo/moisturiser plants, and constructions and crafts using jungle bamboo and rattan. You can walk nearby to explore a modern Orang Asli school and village or trek with Mr Muin for 4-5 hrs into the jungle to visit a traditional Orang Asli village. For those who like tiny wildlife, there are tiny shrimps hiding around the rocks in the waterfall, small fishes in the stream, fireflies in the compounds at night, and beautiful and interesting moths and insects that visit the chalet at night. The cooling not-very-humid temperature of the highlands made living within the jungle pleasant. Gee Tatt was very friendly, responsive, informative and hospitable. He went the extra mile to obtain small bamboo pieces for my kids’ nature crafts. We had an amazing time there.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

I had a perfect stay at the hotel, with impeccable service, comfortable accommodations, and an ideal location for exploring CH. The place was very clean. They also offer a free shuttle-service. I got bitten by an insect, they took care of me very well.

Everything except there’s no short shuttle service from the bottom and the swimming pool should be heated a little.

Louis and Simon were exceptional in their approach in ensuring that all the guests were happy and looked after. Their attention to detail made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Louis was ever present chatting to guests and Simon provided an excellent shuttle service to town. All the staff were friendly and helpful during our stay. Highly recommend a stay here.

The host was very thoughtful. There were slipper for use in the apartment so that in the early mornings our feet would not be too cold, or when we get into the bathrooms. I appreciate that the host has an extra set of extension cord that we could use located in one of the cabinets.

Excellent communication prior to arrival and during stay for pick ups and drop offs. Made it well located for town to go hiking & to see the tea plantations. Hot well powered shower and very clean bedding and towels. Excellent breakfast, water provided and coffee and kettle in room.

The people working in the hotel are the most nice people you will ever meet. The owner Louis, driver Simon, receptionist Dani and all the others. The rooms were clean, big beds, tasty breakfast, free drinking water, hotel has shuttle service to and from city centre or bus terminal. Whatever you ask - will be provided and taken care of: tours, transfers, etc. just sit back and enjoy the experience. There is another accommodation by the same owner in Taman Negara. We did not stay there but worth checking out.

The owner and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with any advice we needed. The free pick up and drop off is fantastic and they offer free shuttle rides into town but it is close enough to walk which we did. A great location for Tanah Rata. Breakfast is good too with choice of western and malaysian.

The location of the resort is very nice on the edge of town, on the hill with a nice view. The staff at the reception and shuttle bus were exceptional. They made sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. Very hospitable feeling for us. The small balcony facing the back is very nice during the day to sit on. The room and the hotel were clean.
