We were apprehensive booking this place, because there are so many scam places in Udawalawe and the reviews seemed too good - but they’re all true! Everything exceeded our expectations for the price: the beautiful balcony and view, the nice clean rooms, the food, and the amazing kind hosts who go above and beyond! They have the most beautiful and peaceful spot down by the river where you can swim, relax and play badminton. If we could have stayed longer we would.
This should be the go to place for anyone thinking of going to Udawalawe!

The accommodation is a bit off the beaten path, but that’s part of its charm. It’s a special experience to stay in a tropical environment surrounded by trees, with monkeys and peacocks roaming around the property. Everything is lovingly furnished, and the rooms are new. The host was very helpful and even organized a safari for us, with the guide picking us up directly from the accommodation.
After the safari, there was a big breakfast waiting for us, and the host stayed up late just to make sure we were taken care of. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we're in the area.

We stayed at Waraka for one night as part of a longer holiday to Sri Lanka. We had a wonderful stay - the room was spacious for our family of four, the staff were wonderful (my daughters loved making flower crowns with them) and the food delicious! It's a great location for visiting Udawalawe. When we arrived at the airport to go home we realised we had left our youngest daughters favourite teddy bear at the hotel - disaster! Dilshan was so helpful - he found the bear and she has just arrived safely back to us in the UK. Thank you Dilshan and all at Waraka!

Staying with Sujee was a delightful experience ! We had the chance to stay in the middle of the jungle between trees and a river flowing by. The room was super clean and comfortable and Sujee’s wife prepared the best Sri lankan diner for us.

This place is such a retreat! The cabins are so luxury with a big bed, perfect aircon and such a cute vibe!! We had such a peaceful sleep here. The pool is gorgeous, a place you can just go to swim and rest. The breakfast is out of this world. So many options and so much food! Even watermelon juice on tap. Felt so lucky at this accommodation. Will be back!
The owners were very attentive and helpful. The dinner and breakfast consisted of a variety of dishes and were delicious. The individual cabins were large with a contained outdoor bathroom and small balcony. The property by nature is remote so bring your own entertainment for your down time.
Such a cute and friendly resort. The hosts were really proactive with their communication when we booked, and were super friendly while we stayed; even bringing us a cold watermelon juice on arrival! The cabins and the grounds are really picturesque, and have all the amenities you would need. We had dinner at the resort and breakfast the next morning; both were delicious, and the dining area was really nice.
Absolutely fantastic what the owner has built here with his family. You stay in this very nice wooden hut which has everything you need. Milan and his family are true superhosts and the food is amazing. Also the safari that he is organizing is very good and respectful of the animals!! Definitely worth the stay in this lovely jungle garden.
