For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.
Perfect spot to stay if planning on hiking in Kamakochi. The staff were excellent, and love the wood cabin feel of the place. Dinner that is purchasable there was also very nice!
All the staff were attentive and helpful. The food was amazing and the building quite unique..
There was a free shuttle bus into and from the station which was really useful.
Location was very good, being near Matsumoto Castle and the main shopping/ restaurant areas. The staff were helpful and friendly. The courtesy shuttle bus back to the station was a bonus as the timings worked for us.
The staff were very warm and hospitable, and provided shuttle both ways. Overall still a good experience, very near kamikochi. The view is good. The onsen is nice and hot but quite small.
Evening meal was spectacular. Hot bath was sublime. Nice touch to offer a shuttle to the station. Liked the history of the place, which is now in an industrial estate, but was built a few years ago in open countryside.
Everything. Ambience grand yet intimate; room very clean, large and comfortable; Onsen facilities were excellent; breakfast provided an extensive range of fine choices; dinners were superb, beautifully presented degustations; staff most welcoming and helpful; shuttle to and from rail station very useful.
Altogether, significantly contributed to an absolutely delightful stay in the beautiful and interesting township of Matsumoto.
Excellent location right next to Kamikochi. Daily shuttle from the Ryokan gets you right into the park for free. Extremely kind and helpful staff. The onsen baths were perfect for winding down after long days of hiking.
This was such a lovely place to stay. The staff were really friendly and attentive, even though we don't speak Japanese. Everything was personalised and we were made to feel very welcome. The food was amazing. The onsen were really nice, and we could book a private onsen at no extra cost. Really recommend staying here, every detail of the place is beautifully thought out. Also there is a shuttle bus to/from Matsumoto station which is really helpful as it is a little way out of town.
