We booked the apartment which is located in the hotel. As others have stated, there is no wifi in the room, you have to go the lobby area. We paid for a mobile wifi router for our stay in Japan so it wasn't an issue. Room is small as stated, however we are three 6ft males and we managed fine. Just meant we needed to be tidy.
Beds were big enough and comfy.
The location is excellent, a short walk to the first lift.
The hotel facilities are great, which you can use as part of the apartment stay.
The lodge owner is friendly and their restaurant is great.
With mountain views, Japan Snowsports is set in Iiyama and has a restaurant, a shared kitchen, bar, garden, sun terrace and barbecue. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge.

Very similar to a European chalet holiday with a Japanese feel. Owners and staff were very friendly and attentive and organised everything from transport to lift passes, dinner bookings to serving a delicious breakfast.

Our host Seiko was wonderful and very helpful. The amenities were fantastic, especially the private onsens. The breakfast was delicious but so much for us to eat when we just wanted to hit the snow. And we loved tinkering on the beautiful Yamaha piano, and the drying rooms and place to service our boards were very handy... such a great experience. 👍 🙏
Resembling a cosy European ski hotel, Lodge Hahnenkamm offers direct skiing access to the Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort. The hotel is a 1-minute walk from a ski school, and ski rental shops are also nearby....

Out of town at ski slopes. Would be great in winter. Walk into town helped by long moving walkway, but it stops at 4:30, taxis stop soon after and there are no buses. Owners willing to help out in emergency.
Offering a bar and mountain view, CABIN Nozawaonsen is set in Nozawa Onsen, 21 km from Ryuoo Ski Park and 32 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park.

Great chalet in a fantastic location. We had two families with 3 kids and i really cant fault our stay. The entire chalet is much bigger than expected, the kitchen and living areas are really functional, perfect after a long day on the mountain to relax with amazing views of the surrounding valley. There is a huge drying room for ski gear and ample storage throughout.
On arrival we met the host who gave us a rundown on the chalet, Akakura town and surrounding areas.
We rented a car from Nagano which I highly recommend as its easier to drive into the center of town with ski gear plus there are plenty of other good mountains in the area.

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.
Lovely host on arrival, the mountains were great for more experienced skiers. My children struggled as beginners, but this is perhaps because the resort was very icey at our time of visiting. Cosy cabin, our kids loved it!
The massage chair was an excellent addition to the property and our room was comfortable with a nice deep bath for post ski soaking. The boot room was great for drying out gear and the morning shuttle up to the lifts was a great bonus.
The FTM is very warm, and this kind of forest cabin is the dream of people from southern China for the snowy winter season. The hotel is right next to the ski slopes and even within walking distance. There are good restaurants right next to the hotel which is very convenient.
Nick and Karina is from Australia. They are very friendly and nice. My family had great help with transportation to Nozawa Onsen and to the Shinkansen station from Nick & Karina. Three nights of stay is a wonderful experience.
Cosy little cabins in the snow. Our hosts were very helpful and even towed us when our car got stuck in snow! They also drove us the ski lifts each day, which was about 1km.
The rooms are spacious, good value with everything you need. The heating was more than adequate and the presentation of everything went above expectation. The facilities including onsen were all functioning and top notch. The staff were also very helpful with any inquiries and gave us a shuttle van to the ski lifts where necessary.
This place is in a great spot only a short walk away from the ski resort. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to help us with local information. This place also offers a free shuttle to the resort for guests.
The daily breakfast was amazing and in a really comfortable setting. We appreciated the snowboard/ski movies being played every morning at breakfast.
Also cheap draft beer on tap to relax on the couch with for apres.
Would definitely recommend this to our friends.
We loved the warmth and deliciousness of this place. We thoroughly enjoyed in house, home cooked dinners and a joyful, friendly family of three. Nothing was too much to ask, even a switch of bedding before we arrived (due to allergies), clean washing when required (neatly folded and smelling of flowers. Shuttle drops up and down from the slopes, rented ski gear and warm clothes, everything we needed!
Such a wonderful stay, thank you.
