The view and location were incredible. The private onsen was also very nice. The loving room furniture was very high quality and the traditional room was a very nice touch. It was very nice to have access to a washer and dryer during our stay. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

The food was excellent. It is more slanted towards "western" tastes than the food at the many ryokans that we had been staying at, but as our stay was at the end of our two-week trip and a change from what we had been eating, it was actually welcome as re-entry. We are walkers and did not use the shuttle bus, but having it available would be perfect for many. The museums in the area are quite wonderful and well worth visiting. The roo

Lovely views and beautiful communal areas. Very attentive and helpful reception staff. Food was nice, better than we were expecting based on reviews (although staying more than 3 days you may get bored). Close transport links 5 min walk to ropeway, sightseeing cruise and bus station. Shuttle bus very nice with friendly driver. Lovely hotel shop with nice snacks and local crafts. Lovely yukata to wear and the outside Bath/onsen was wonderful.

Lovely, high end hotel with very accommodating staff. Many nice touches like wine, iced teas and snacks in lobby, foot soaking tubs on terrace, and free ice cream. Breakfast buffet was very good and accommodates Japanese and Western tastes. Fabulous garden with bridges and waterfalls built around creek. Shuttle to various places in town. If I went again, I would ask for room facing garden because it is peaceful and lovely.

Great stay in Hakone. The location is accessible from the bus system and is in a quiet area. The inn offers a shuttle to Gora station. They have a small restaurant that serves food and drinks during the day and into the evening. The restaurant/common area is very cozy with a fireplace and views of a rock garden and mountains. They let you reserve their onsen rooms for 40 minute blocks in the evening. The staff was very kind and accommodating. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Go here for the atmosphere. The wooden capsules you sleep in made me feel a child again, given permission by his mum tot sleep in the wooden hut he built. I loved it. Surrounded by backpackers with stories to tell, with a small, cozy cafe and on the quiet edge of town, I would definitely go here again. Recommended.

The hotel and its garden were very beautiful. The common area and all others are intelligently designed. It's nice to spend time in that lounge looking at the garden - by fireplace in winter even better I imagine - you can also enjoy your meal there. The onsen was okay, too though I was expecting some more of it. There's also a shuttle service to Gora station. All in all, it was still a good choice.

True to the photos, Gorgeous garden (very zen), good lounge area with fireplace, very clean (which I appreciated), private use of onsen for 50 mins (reserve on check in) They have a shuttle to Gora in the morning (9, 10, 11am) - makes it convenient to go around.
