Fisherman's Cabin on the banks of the River Meon, a property with a garden, is situated in Southampton, 24 km from Jane Austen's House Museum, 26 km from Southampton Guildhall, as well as 26 km from Southampton Cruise Terminal. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay with Chris & Kay. The cabin is perfect for the ultimate getaway from the stresses and strains of life. It was warm, spacious, with excellent facilities & a stunning view. To wake up to the sound of the river sweetly passing by is an experience which you cannot compare. Similarly, the hospitality was second to none. We were offered cups of tea, bacon sandwiches of a morning & Chris & Kay couldn't have possibly been anymore helpful. We felt so at home. We shed a tear when we left as we had such an amazing time! The local pub is just a 10 minute walk away, Southampton a 25-minute drive and for those of you venturing further the New Forest just 45 minutes. It couldn't be better situated. I promise you that coming for a stay with Chris & Kay is an experience you will truly enjoy.

Looking for a cabin?

For the active travellers, a chalet is a great mix of the outdoors and the snug inside. Usually fully furnished and self-catered, chalets are typically wooden and in the Alpine region of Europe, but can also be found elsewhere in the world. Characterised by their sloped roofs, chalets can be single units or separate apartments, and are ideal for skiing holidays.

The cabin lies next to the riverbank. There are 2 little bridges, the larger one is flat and wooden so care in the dark and the wet. It is very quiet and rustic and is a good glamping option for those on the South Downs Way as a stopover. The nearest pub does good pizza and is 18 minutes walk away. There is a heater in the winter and an induction hob which is reasonably easy to operate. The toilet and shower are in a separate and adjacent hut but be aware that the toilet is not a flushing variety if you are sensitive about such things.

You know what you are going to get with a budget hotel - the room would be fairly basic, but it would have everything you need as a base for the night. That was exactly what we got - a functional room, very reminiscent of a cabin on a cruise ship, albeit an economy one. The bed though was surprisingly comfortable, unlike other budget hotels, so that was a clear plus.

The hotel was modern, well equipped and well staffed. The breakfast lounge was bright and airy and efficient. Plenty of options for breakfast. The bedroom was modern and comfortable. The hotel was situated on a busy interchange but the soundproof windows enabled traffic noise to be shut out. Across from the hotel is a lovely park which gives access to all the main attractions in town.

Stunning location and great atmosphere. We stayed in one of the wooden huts and the extra details like power sockets for usb was brilliant. Each tent or hit has their own fire pit and decked area with tables Super comfortable mattresses and the communal kitchen was fantastic
