Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap 'pod' hotels are a novelty for any traveller. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodation is basic and intended to be overnight. There is separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms — some capsule hotels also have a sentō, a Japanese bath house, often for male guests only.

The hotel is conveniently located near the Takamastu JR train station. The area has quite a few eatery options such as “Meriken-y”a udon noodle house. The décor in the room feels a bit dated but it is spacious and clean. The breakfast offers both Japanese and Western items. The breakfast items change slightly every day, and I thought it was quite good. The staff in this hotel is very helpful and friendly.

    1. Female dormitory is much cleaner than single room's public space. Furthermore, cheaper. 2. Transportation is convenient.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that each person has access to two levels of a bunk bed, where the lower level can be used to put stuff or spend some quiet time (sitting down, it's not tall enough to stand up). This is more than I was expecting! Everything was very clean and it was overall a very pleasant stay. The location was also conveniently close to the train station, as well as the covered shoutengai.

The hotel is conveniently located in the city center with lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Also loved the breakfast with the many varieties of food - it was really delicious! I stayed in one of the capsule style rooms, where I slept very well. If that is not your style or you are traveling in a group, the hotel also offers regular rooms.
