Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap “pod” hotels are a novelty for any traveler. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodations are basic and intended to be overnight. There's separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms. Some capsule hotels also have a sentō – a Japanese bath house, usually for male guests only.

It's a lovely, clean little place. There was a possibility for noise because it's small and in traditional style, but we didn't have any trouble at all. The front desk staff was amazing and friendly, and even helped us to book massages for our poor, tired feet! It's a decent-sized room with a shower in it. Really conveniently located for shopping, food, transportation to the attractions, and the train station. Really happy with Slow House Nara!

This ryokan is a great experience and I definitely recommend it to everyone. Staff is super friendly and helpful, rooms are beautiful, food is delivered to your room and you can taste so many new things. With the japanese kimono and sake in your hand the experience is really authentic :)

Extremely friendly staff, the kaiseki dinner was delicious with a lot of variety, same for the breakfast (opted for Japanese style). Everything was clean, the room was amazing, clean yukatas and haoris were provided daily, the futon beds were very comfortable. This Ryokan is very well located as it's very close to the Kintetsu-Nara train station (with direct trains to both Kyoto and Osaka) and the main streets while still in a very quiet area. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Nara, either for just one night or for a few days!

The staff were very polite and friendly. The room we stayed in was spacious for our family of 5 and we really liked the Japanese experiences that we had at Hotel New Wakasa. The rooftop sitting area is lovely.

A place combing traditional with modern elements. No matter if single (travel) or with companion(s), all find suitable 'space'. Utmost clean, well organized, convenient. Host welcoming (friendly), dedicated. Breakfast is delicious (to be ordered in advance, with a minimal fee). For budget travelers, this place is the right choice!

Loved the traditional Japanese Inn experience. The bathhouse was great and had the inside or outside baths. The staff made up our room while we were out which we were not expecting, which was great! Very convenient location to everything. The breakfast staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Excellent Japanese breakfast and convenient location near Todaiji. Rooftop lounge is great for sunset views of Todaiji. Walking distance to most of the major sights. Friendly helpful staff and a newly renovated room with the very latest Bluetooth Toto. Bath is a bit small and only warm but still nice.

Very convenient location! We had a comfortable stay in a clean and relaxed environment. The staff were warm and friendly, and engaged us in English very well. It was nice to exchange Japanese greetings every morning and every time we returned home. ^^ The kitchen was also well-equipped and kept very clean. The pop-up coffee shop was a nice touch too! Thank you for the welcoming atmosphere and warm memories!

Helpful and friendly staff (went out of their way to provide information and good recommendations - thanks!), convenient location, comfortable and well-presented room in a more traditional Japanese style, overall a very good stay and would go back again :)
