They place incense, which gives it a very pleasant atmosphere. An extraordinary experience to rest in a Ryokan in a magical destination. Kousu Ke takes care of the property and was an extraordinary person, kind and very helpful. He solved a problem for me with the shipment of a package that he had lost at a destination prior to our arrival, and made sure I received it at my next destination. There cannot be a better host. The location is unbeatable, a couple of blocks from the main street. Walking to the bay took you through the little streets of traditional houses, and you could see the residents going about their daily lives.

There was a slight language barrier at dinner, but there were English-printed menus. The location was great, right near the Tori gates. We could go out at night and see the lights since the main door is open until Midnight. The staff was very accommodating.

Great service that was communicative in English. Despite some problem with reservation (that was my blame, not the facility's) they resolved it quickly and let me fully enjoy the experience of ryokan. The building is located only roughly 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shrine with famed torii gate. The breakfast was outstanding.

If you're looking for an authentic stay, this is it. The little garden in the middle of the house really adds to its charm. The bath is the best I've had in the past 5 weeks of traveling around Japan. And the owner is delightful.
