An incredible experience of staying in a traditional house in an authentic cosy town of Kakunodate. Very spacious, lots of rooms and bathroom/toilets. Very friendly, helpful and communicative staff, Makito. We absolutely loved the breakfast around the traditional Japanese hearth, irori. It was very delicious, hearty and unique. We absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic local experience in the Japanese countryside.

A bit expensive but the experience was worth it, we had the best dinner of our trip in Japan, even though a translation of the menu in english would be appreciated. The room was big and confortable, we had a very nice stay here.

It is not a studio, but a larger facility that was mainly empty, maybe used in winter. But we enjoyed the hot bath and having shelter in the midst of the wood. Walking up the mountain we had a gorgeous view over the region - in the distance lake Tazawa. That was worth it!

Everything about this place is wonderful - the hosts are such kind people, the house itself is really beautiful and interesting, with breathtaking views. An extra special touch was when the hosts made us a local hot pot banquet on the last night! The area is very beautiful with lots of walks and things to see. The private onsen in the house with views of the lake was wonderful after a day of exploring.

We absolutely loved our stay with Fujisan. The upstairs area where we stayed was very spacious, the tatami sleeping arrangement very cosy and the food she cooked for us was among the best meals we had in the whole of Japan.

Friendly staff, great selection for breakfast buffet, sufficient parking space. 10 min to the cherry blossom area. Yukata was also comfy.

The location is OK.
The room was sacious according to Japanese standard.
Most of the staff were polite and friendly, that was only the only reason I still gave it 2 points.
It is easy to park the car, not very far from the main building
Outdoor onsen was amazing. Location was great. It’s a big hotel but very traditional Japanese. Other first rate onsens nearby. Half board was very good (nowhere else to eat nearby). Shinkansen stops at Tazawako close by so easy to access. Very little English spoken but staff went out of their way to be helpful.
The location is the best for me! Not too far from Kakunodate Station, near laundry coin, near supermarket and around 10 minutes walk to samurai houses. It's clean and comfy. When I was there, no one beside me is using the bunk bed because Sakura season has passed so the tourist rush was no more. Still, it's a beautiful place and I'd like to come again! The host were responsive, helpful and nice. Thank you!
Room was modern, large and well appointed. Great location next to the train station with free parking at the rear of the hotel. Good breakfast mainly Japanese. The restaurant is open for dinner and serves a good standard of meal at a reasonable price. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the main tourist sites.
Excellent location, just right at the entrance of Lake Tazawa - the starting point of the lake road. It has its own car park with ample parking spaces. The staff who served us were very good. The public outdoor onsen was very good. Both the buffet breakfast and buffet dinner were of good quality, with a good balance of Japanese and western food. Our room was in the main building, looked a little old but clean in general.
Everything!
The staff was extremely kind and helpful.
Everything was very clean and well maintained.
The house and surrounding area is very beautiful.
It was an overall wonderful and uinique experience.
The food was good, both breakfast and dinner. Also relatively cheap. The location was fantastic! The room was much bigger than anticipated, beds were really comfortable, and the bathroom was great.
Exellent location next to the train station, very nice staff and good restaurant for dinner after a long day.
The breakfast is also very good with multiple options (more local than european).
The room and the hotel are very clean. The room is even big for Japanese standards.
The bed was very comfortable and the sunlight at 5am in the summer morning is blocked well with the curtains
