If you want an authentic experience of staying in a more traditional Turkish town, give Kusadasi a wide berth, and stay in delightful quiet Selcuk instead!
Amazon Petite is in a great location in an older part of town, but still within walking distance to some of the attractions, shops, cafes, and restaurants, some of which are only a few minutes walk, including some with rooftop bars which are perfect to watch the sunset from.
The property has been in the family for at least three generations, and has been lovingly restored by Emre and other family members into a blend of very comfortable modern amenities and traditional architecture. We had a beautiful first floor large room at the end of a corridor for our three night stay.
Emre was extremely welcoming, and was a delightful, helpful and informative host.
We developed a lovely rapport with the lady who prepared and served the fantastic breakfast spread – thank goodness for Google translate!
A plunge in the lovely pool was so very welcomed, after a hot and long day out. And to relax and chill out, there are outdoor seating areas and access to the charming breakfast room space at any time.
Our must do’s: the Saturday local markets where the very colourful array of fresh produce is a visual and mouth watering feast; Ejder Restaurant where you can indulge in amazing home cooking by the delightful wife, and get to know the very entertaining husband, who loved telling us about Steve Irwin’s visit to their restaurant; buy the admission ticket which includes entry to Ephesus and the Terrace Houses, the Ephesus Museum in Selcuk (which you should do after you visit Ephesus), the archaeological site of the Basilica of St John, and the nearby fortress.
Amazon Petite is a ten minute walk to the bus station from which you can catch a dolmus to Ephesus.
Set in a renovated traditional house on a hillslope of Selcuk, Villa Dreams offers an outdoor pool and a terrace with panoramic views of the historic town, the castle and Aegean Sea.

An authentic family-run pension in the heart of Selcuk with three lovely ladies offering a warm welcome & hospitality, a traditional breakfast, and basic but adequate rooms, with balconies. The Saturday market on the doorstep extending way into the square & side streets was a highlight, as were the short walks to the train station to the left and the bus station to the right. All manner of shops, bars, cafes restaurants adjacent, Selcuk is a wonderful little town, and then there's Ephesus a short hop away!

If ever you decide to stay in Şirince Nikbin Yamaç Pansiyon is a very good option as it is on the upper part of the village a bit further away from the touristy area. Super nice view from the terrace, friendly rooms with vintage charm furniture, comfortable beds and welcoming hosts. The mezes we had for dinner were all home cooked and very tasty, breakfast was excellent with home made bread and jams, cheese, tomatoes spread, eggs and greens. Be aware that you have to park your car on one of the car parks in the lower part.
We arrived late but were greeted by hotel staff and everyone was very friendly and kind and accommodating to us,
the hotel was great and everything is as is. Check in was fast, Check out was fast. Service was fast. Rooms were
comfortable and nice showers. The location is great and although it is very hot in the summer you dont feel it here in the villa because of all the beautiful trees providing a nice shade. Pool was excellent for a family to enjoy. Fully Reccomend your stay here.
Very quirky property. Definitely not your classic hotel but fun and very interesting. Great proximity to the village. Owner was wonderful he went out of his way to accommodate us. Breakfast was fantastic!
Wonderful location in Sirince. Beautiful and interesting (if touristy) village. We were glad we stayed here 3 nights instead of Ephesus. Beautiful terrace setting for breakfast, drinks or dinner. We stayed in Clockmaker's cottage.
The accommodation is perfect. It includes a large living room with a double bed and two very comfortable sofa beds. It also includes a bathroom and a terrace with a magnificent view. You'll find everything you need. The location is ideal, 5 minutes' walk from the village centre in a quieter, more natural area. If you are travelling by car, please do not try to enter the village but follow Mustafa's instructions, he's very helpful.
Charmingly situated at the top of the mountain village. A little difficult to get to by car but worth it. The view was very nice as well as the host. Breakfast was also excellent. The host suggested a great wine shop (Hera) for tasting and purchase.
The room was wonderful, in a traditional turkish style, it had hot water, air conditioner, the village was beautiful, it was a quiet place. This destination was not planned, but it exceeded our expectations.
The Villa Dreams staff went above and beyond. Okyay offered us transportation to and from the train station, told us places to see beyond just Efes, and was genuinely enthusiastic to host us.
We had a great stay at the Nikbin Yamac Pansiyon. It has a well maintained front porch with pretty plants and a stunning view of the village. The owners were super friendly and gave us great recommendations on where to go for wine tasting and on how to plan our day to see historical places in the area.
