It was a perfect little spot to relax and take in the scenery! The young couple who own the place are incredibly kind and attentive. It was out first time starting the and my 9 year old was keen to use the outdoor jetted tub which is refilled daily with fresh water so as not to use chemicals. To his dismay, it had just been emptied the morning he wanted to use it, just before our departure. The owner ran to refill it just for him and stayed with his to watch his delight! We were checking out and he insisted we stay longer so my son could enjoy the water. The breakfast was lovely and I can't go on enough about the beautiful grounds and facilities. This couple went to alot of effort to build this incredible place among a vineyard with spectacular views while also ensuring all the modern conveniences we've come to expect. I can't rate it highly enough. Book this place; you won't regret it!

One has to follow Solar de Maceira name in Google, and not its address, because the main entrance is not on that street. Experiencing Casa do Fundo is like experiencing a piece of history in the Serra d’Estrela foothills. Pedro greats you with a warm welcome to his Bed and Breakfast which was first run by his grandparents in this beautifully maintained and restored 120 year old building. The building and it’s out buildings tell the story of the neighborhood if take the time to ask questiones. The beautiful “forno” in the side yard was shared by the neighbors on bread day- but now his bread is delivered fresh with the honk of a horn. Pedro has maintained a lot of the antique furniture and it is a privilege to use it. It appears that he serves the wonderful typical Portuguese breakfast with his grandmothers dishes. Note- this breakfast is typical for the types of foods provided, but atypical for the variety of cheeses, breads, sweets and cereals that he offers. The location is country side, a short drive out of Seia where you are greeted by the sheep that stay nearby at night. If you like to experience the history and culture of Portugal, appreciate beautiful landscaping and a warm personality- choose Pedro’s. If you like cookie cutter lodging and standard food- you need to go somewhere else.
