This was one of the most amazing stays of our 3 week trip through Portugal. We've stayed in many places during our trip, so we had something to compare it to. I was impressed by the comfort, location, special coziness, which may not be visible in the photos. And we were even more impressed by the extremely hospitable reception, during which we received a gift bottle of wine, cheese, and homemade bread. We felt like coming home and really regretted that we only planned to stay at Peha Garcia for one day. The famous places, atmospheric streets and surroundings of this town are very beautiful. The nearby Monsanto is a must visit as well.

The people that operate this bed and breakfast are wonderful and very interesting. Delightful rural location with a beautiful view of Monsanto. An amazing breakfast with shak shuka, cheese, meat, vegetables, pancakes, homemade preserves, and really good coffee.

Perfect location: safe, quiet, space to park your car and walking distance to town, the castle and everything else beautiful Monsanto has to offer. Lovely house that felt like home: clean, spacious, traditional, private, everything you need is provided and more. But what made my stay extra special was the kindest host: such a genuine nice person with a lot of life experience around the world and interesting stories to tell, with the best local tips. We enjoyed our stay at Casa Mont'Santo. The house was remarkably spacious and comfortable. The house has four levels. First floor - kitchen and living room. Second floor: Bedrooms and bathroom/shower. Third floor: Another bedroom with a private balcony. Fourth floor: Large rooftop terrace with a small hut containing the laundry facilities. The house is located near the top of the town, a short walk to everything that you might want to visit. There is even a few places to park a small car nearby, with more just down the road. We enjoyed exploring the town and castle. There are a few small restaurants nearby.

We were super excited to stay at this hotel. The welcoming person is very nice, she speaks English, Spanish and of course Portuguese. The breakfast was really cool. In general it was a great experience of visiting Monsanto especially because of our stay in Casa Pires Mateus

Nave de Pedra is a lovely family home in the village of Monsanto. Monsanto is known for being built on top of a hill, in between and around massive boulders. The setting is simply magical, with stone lanes winding their way up to the castle ruins at the top of the hill. I was grateful that Nave de Pedra was not too far up the hill, as the lanes are steep and the idea of pulling suitcases up in the searing heat was not appealing. The house itself was beautifully and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms are on the lower ground floor, so nice and cool. There is a lovely balcony with views down the hill and across the countryside. It was perfect for watching sun rise and sun set. The hostess had kindly left us fresh figs in the fridge, picked from the garden. There were 2 bathrooms, as well as use of washing machine and the kitchen was fully equipped.
