The hosts were incredibly sweet and went above and beyond to help us arrange a fantastic safari experience. The room was very clean and comfortable, though the Wi-Fi was not working during our stay. Sudath and his family were fantastic hosts, everything was delicious. The safari trip was absolutely amazing and Sudath has such amazing knowledge about the park and really cares for the environment. He will try his best to find and stop at all types of animals including even the smallest birds and lizards! 100% would recommend to anyone.

- We very much enjoyed the safari, which was organised by our hosts. We did a full-day safari and enjoyed the tour very much. Because it was low season we had a driver and a guide who explained very well about the animals. Our impression was that both - driver and guide - very much enjoyed the tour themselves, drove very carefully and respectful of the animals in the national park, and were also amazed by the animals we have seen.
After the safari in Udawalawe, we also did a half-day safari in Yala. It was special to us as we were lucky enough to see a leopard in Yala. But the driver and guide in Yala were only focused on finding a leopard and did not pay much attention to other animals. If you have only time to do one safari, I would recommend the Udawalawe national park.

We had a nice stay in the villa. Rooms are clean, porch is cosy and garden is beautiful. We saw birds, a mangose, turtles, green frogs and several water monitors in the garden! The owner is friendly and arranged a massage for us.

He was very welcoming and helped us with anything we wanted - dinner, breakfast (all traditional and freshly cooked food was delicious) :)
We also had a very well organized safari with Max - Driver was a very experienced guy so we didn't need to get an extra guide, he could spot even tiny birds/cameleons from a pretty large distance. The car was great as well.
We really enjoyed our stay at Max Safari Villa. Max’s mother made a delicious dinner for us. We did have to buy our beer ourselves but that wasn’t really a problem. Safari’s are also arranged bij Max as well as a taxi or tuk tuk.
Kottawatta Village is a magnificent hotel nestled in the heart of the jungle. The beautiful pool and well-designed spaces make it a perfect retreat. We especially loved the outdoor bathroom. A little paradise on earth! Highly recommended!
