Old installations but this was exactly what we were looking for when we booked this ryokan. The hosts are not so good with English but everything was fine, even the description of every dish for the dinner and the coffee break.

Everything was perfect. Tai and his mother Nabuko are the sweetest people ever. Tai picked us up from the station in a heavy rainy day and brought us to a nice restaurant, then came back to bring us to his wonderful traditional house. This place is a dream. The staff is so nice and helpful, the onsens are great. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. It feels like immersing in a Japanese dream. The hotel's village is beautiful and quiet. And it's very easy to get to Kamikochi.

We stayed here for 1 night during the Takayama Spring Festival , it was one of the few hotels with a room available during this very busy time in Takayama. Turned out to be a great stay. A short walk to Hilda Folk Village. A traditional ryokan with onsen which we tried for the first time and enjoyed the experience. We caught the bus from the city centre to get there. They provided a free shuttle back into Takayama the next morning.
Fantastic traditional style Japanese home with all the modern amenities. Our favorite stay in all of Japan for a great price! Just enough outside the main drag to still be easily walkable, but in a VERY local village. Just perfect.

An absolute gem hidden a bus way from Hirayu Onsen. There is an outdoor onsen and two private onsens on-site. The owners put on a delicious breakfast and were kind enough to cater for my vegetarian diet. We even got a room upgrade. Thank you for your hospitality.
Bus stop is a 4 minute walk away. A second bus stop is a 20 minute walk down the hill. A small village with a shop and a couple of restaurants are 30 minute walk.
