We got lucky and had a huge room with so many windows! Our room was great and the windows helped create a nice breeze. The train station is nearby, and the screeching of the brakes can be pretty annoying but the windows are soundproof when closed!
Breakfast was also really really delicious. You have access to a buffet while receiving a menu to order your main course. The Benedict was my go-to, although I also enjoyed the salmon and eggs on toast and the full Irish breakfast.
We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, but we briefly strolled the back area, used the sauna, and enjoyed a mini picnic.
The location is good enough to walk anywhere, really. We only took the car for long drives because it was easier to walk than worry about finding parking downtown. The uphill walk can be a struggle for those with asthma or mobility issues, but there's a bus line nearby so that could also be an option!

Warm and welcoming hosts, very comfortable room with many thoughtful touches in terms of the amenities. It was very convenient to have a fridge, kettle, AND microwave -- the hosts very kindly washed our dishes for us. The fireplace heating element was so cozy on rainy, windy nights. Easy private parking. 30 minutes drive from the city so it's a good base of operations for exploring the area.
The location is absolutely perfect if you are going to visit Blarney Castle. Walking from Foxhollow took us about 10 minutes, and if you got a taxi from the village after having a few pints of Murphys, then this would only take 3 minutes and cost you around 5 euros.
Once we had changed rooms to a suite, we were in a happier mood. This hotel and woollen mill were busy places. Breakfast in The Loom was good, cooked to order, but lots of choice. In the evenings, we ate at Christy's the first night, and had a good meal (steak, salmon). After that we used the Chinese takeaway in Blarney village and had a lunch in Cork.
