Beautiful characterful 2 bedroom/2 storey property. Great facilities, huge bedrooms and 2 ensuite bathrooms. Really comfortable. Situated in a gorgeous village with ample restaurants. Can highly recommend ‘Curry Tonight’, one of the best Indian meals we’ve ever had!

The instructions provided were clear and easy to follow from finding the property to checking in and out.
The room was lovely, cosy and modern that provided us with everything we needed - a little home away from home. The Host was available whenever needed and responded as soon as possible.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable bed
A large bedroom/bathroom suite in the converted stable blocks. Friendly staff, good beer and generous food portions. A good 'Full English' the following morning, to set you up for the day ahead. All set in a pretty village location with some quirky architecture and building styles etc., which made my Chartered Surveyor girlfriend very happy!
Excellent supper and breakfast. Delightful village surrounded by countryside. Although on a main road the rooms are soundproofed so noise from the road did not interrupt sleep. So peaceful- the noise from the pub/bar could not be heard in the rooms. Rooms are spacious. Wonderfully comfortable stay in an old property with so many interesting features. Supper was huge helpings and breakfast was filling with options to add cereals etc to a full breakfast. Staff were cheerful and welcoming. A truly relaxing stay.

Situated in a very prety village and rural location
A lovely village pub / hotel in a very nice situation overlooking open fields. We had a very comfortable room and enjoyed a lovely dinner with excellent friendly service. Breakfast was also very good. Large car park so no problems with the car!
A perfect place to stay if you are visiting Calke Abbey nearby and need accommodation.

The Staff of Life in the delightful village of Ticknall exceeded our expectations. We were greeted with a warm welcome by our friendly hosts John and Jayne. The room was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for our 1 night stay. The full breakfast was excellent and served promptly. Being Sunday we had been made aware that an evening meal would not be available but our hosts were helpful in directing us to nearby amenities.
