I like the location as it was close to the railway station and a short and very pleasant walk to the local amenities and places of interest. Its was a lovely clean and quiet street with friendly neighbours.

Lovely B&B, beautifully decorated, good-sized rooms with en-suite. The breakfast was great (although served from 8 am onward), and the staff friendly and helpful. It is not a hotel, so the rooms are not cleaned during your stay (I stayed 4 nights). The location is great, within walking distance from the station and the city centre.

More and better than expected..and Sean, well what can you say , fabulous man , always there if you needed him and give you plenty of slack and let you do as you pleased..hope to see you next year sean ...stayed 3 days and he always asked what we'd done with our day ..seemed genuinely interested in our activities.

Featuring a terrace and views of garden, Dowfold House Bed and Breakfast is a bed and breakfast situated in a historic building in Crook, 26 km from Beamish Museum.
The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was nicely prepared and generously sized, although maybe a bit too much for us. We were there on a Friday and Saturday night and although a public house we were not disturbed at all by the customers. It is in a nice quiet country village. The room was generally very clean and all looked to be recently re-furbished. with tea and coffee maker, free drinking water and ample towels etc.. No problem at all with parking
Breakfast was cooked individually & not left to dry out under hot lamps. Breakfast was a more imaginative menu than usual for B&B.
Staff were exceptionally kind & caring.
Beds were very comfortable & rooms were clean - nice hot shower!
Quiet village location.
The location is in the quiet little village of Byers Green, not terribly far from the A1 and the bigger towns in Co Durham, but far enough away that when you wake up in the morning all you hear is birdsong, not car after car whooshing by. Esther, the lady that owns the hotel, is kind, down to earth and knows her stuff, as is plain to see by the cleanliness, decor and quality of products on offer. The bed was comfy, the shower was AMAZING, and the wrapped chocolates on the towels were a nice touch.
Room was beautifully clean and bed was very comfortable, the staff were warm, friendly and attentive and the food was amazing and so reasonably priced !! We highly recommend the sizzlers! For dinner and the eggs benedict for breakfast was superb 👌 x lovely place to stay x after check out we even popped along the road to the little village park so we could grab some fresh air and a little leg stretch before continuing our journey perfect 🥰
The location, the property itself, the very good value for money.
Having been born in the village of Byers Green I thought it would be nice to re visit how right I was to book this gem of a property, would definitely reccomend to anyone who asks, and all being well will be visiting again.
If awards are given for these type of places then surely this one is gold standard, lovely touch with the Christmas gift when we arrived.
We loved this hotel. The room was really comfortable with everything we needed. Even access to additional free milk tea, and biccies if needed. Loved the little touches like chocolates in reception. Great parking. Really nice garden and and a covered conservatory area. Lovely decor throughout. Very tasty breakfast and a warm and really friendly host. What's not to love? The hotel is in a quiet village. About 15 mins drive to Durham. We thoroughly recommend this hotel ❤
