Under the Stars Shepherds Huts at Harbors Lake, hotel in Brading

Set within 14 km of Blackgang Chine and 14 km of Osborne House in Newchurch, Under the Stars Shepherds Huts at Harbors Lake offers accommodation with seating area.

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it so much we returned this year. This is an ideal location to switch off and disconnect from things and take a good break, slow down and look at the sheep in the field which you can arrange to participate in feeding if you’d like to. An extremely well equipped shepherds hut, with everything thought of and even fresh milk and eggs on arrival. If you have the wet weather would suggest taking a tablet or laptop so you can watch some downloads or TV which we did and were thankful of it on this stay. We hope to return for a third time next year.

The apartment location is very good, right by the beach. Only a problem if you have difficulty walking, as Shanklin shops and old town are a 20-minute walk up the cliff. Pubs and cafes are nearby, but not a shop. The apartment is very spacious and well provisioned and has a small balcony to sit out on to enjoy the view. Also, it is very close to Shanklin Chine. A huge and comfortable room. Just opposite to the bus stop in the village. So easy to reach. Instructions were clear. They even agreed to an early check out. John gave me information about how to reach the RSPB marshes where I was intending to do some bird watching and photography. A couple of pubs nearby where there was home cooked meals.

A lovely place to stay. Easy to find and park. Nice little garden. Dog friendly. Nicely decorated and very clean. Excellent kitchen, nice bathroom, comfortable beds, etc. very pleased. There’s a nice country walk on the doorstep for dog walks before a day out. There’s a decent couple of pubs in the village so something to do at night. St Helens is a very short drive with an excellent beach as is Shanklin and Sandown. I thoroughly recommend this as a good base to explore the island.

We stayed in the larger ground floor apartment which was spacious and very comfortable providing everything one would require with on site parking. It is located in a small historic village with a local shop, two pubs (one serving meals), a restaurant and excellent fish & chip shop all within walking distance. Plenty of local footpaths to explore with a regular bus service a few hundred yards away and a railway station also within walking distance.

Mulberry Lawn apt was an ideal location for exploring the island by car. You could also catch the train to Ryde and the many different buses. The village is quiet, quaint and has a fabulous restaurant. Hugh was efficient with correspondence and Kate was always available for a chat after our day of sightseeing. The apartment had everything you needed, was cosy and welcoming. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom had a bath! What more could you want?!
