The location is great super close to famous landmarks, we loved the boat experience, it was super spacious and cozy, good decore and great atention from host he explained that we were not renting the entire boat since the kitchen area is shared, but we had no issues with that, since we didn't even see anyone else during our entire stay.
Captain Sven runs a tight ship. The boat was spotlessly clean throughout, cabins are a generous size, breakfast was fantastic. Lovely to be so close to the water - you can lean out of a porthole and talk to the passing ducks. And the location is perfect: quiet neighbourhood but just a short walk from the historic centre.

Great base for an awesome couple of days with the team to celebrate the festive period. The hotel was well positioned, close to the centre, boat trips and also fantastic bars and restaurants.
The room was clean, we had hot water and a strong WIFI. It was spacious and plenty of room for two people. Chair to sit on, this is fantastic so you don’t have to sit on the bed all the time. There is place for your luggage. A water heater with tea and coffee. The location is 2min walk to the city, boat tours and restaurants.
The rooms were lovely and was something different to sleep on a boat instead of a hotel.
How fun to stay on a houseboat! The room and the bathroom were as large as many hotel rooms. The owner, Sven, was super nice and made a great breakfast. The location was close enough to the center of town that it was a short walk but very quiet.
We loved the idea of staying on a boat. The portholes were just above the water so we were eye-to-eye with ducks and geese. Sven was a great host, very helpful. The room was very clean. We would definitely recommend the Boatel as a fun and novel experience.
The room was comfortable and I enjoyed the idea of a small hotel on a boat. The boat hotel is situated close to Gent city center and it was a perfect base to discover the city for a short stay like mine. Breakfast was very good and rich both with salty and sweet food. Captain Sven takes good care of his guests, definitely recommended!
