The ceiling fan was a great help in the heat! The bathroom was very big and the shower was great too, though no hot water. The homestay is located away from the main town of Wellawaya, so it's very tranquil. The highlight of this homestay is the host, Thomasha, and his family. Thomasha was extremely helpful even before I arrived in Wellawaya, telling me which bus to take and where to get off. He drove me to and from the bus stop and always communicated to me clearly when he's available to help. He also cooked me a delicious traditional Sri Lankan dinner in his home and took me on a tour to Diyaluma Falls, showing me all the best places and giving me lots of space and time to enjoy the nature on my own, all for a very fair price. He's a kind and generous man. I stayed just one night, but I will always remember it fondly, recommend to friends who are passing through the area, and maybe go back one day myself.

We loved to walk and there were many routes around - there were large lakes nearby. You meet very few people, just many-many peacocks or a lonely lizard. The hotel is nice looking and comfortable. Our room was clean and large. There was very good hot water pressure, probably the best of the 9 hotels in Sri Lanka where we stayed. Terrace with beautiful views of the surrounding area. There was a large space for working on a laptop, doing yoga and meditation, with fans running. As we are freelancers it was essential for us. We were delighted with the food cooked by two very kind ladies. The hotel manager was incredibly attentive to all our needs, very punctual and obliging. We were also glad to meet the hotel owners. Indira and her husband showed us their cinnamon plantations. It is not like in numerous “Spice gardens”, where they try to sell tourists cinnamon at an increased price. There was a small family production here, which was specially shown to us. You can buy cinnamon, but no one imposes it. We bought some as gifts for our friends. And we were also very grateful to our hosts for driving us along the highway. Within half an hour we met 3 elephants, a herd of buffalo and deer. And this was not a nature reserve, but an ordinary road. On another day we went on a safari to Yala Park. We saw 3 leopards, wild pigs and many other animals. The safari was booked through the hotel, the price was quite normal. Overall, this is one of the best hotels in terms of price-quality. Many people only stay for a day to go on safari, but this place deserves more. We are going to return here next year and recommend this hotel to everyone who likes nature

This is one of the most unique hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and you can spend quite a while wandering the property and looking at all the quirky artwork. I would highly recommend staying in for dinner one night as the food was exceptionally delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful too! They organized our safari ride as well as Tuk Tuks into town. The rooms are a bit on the rustic side, but it adds to the fun experience!

The best food that I ever ate so far in Sri Lanka!!😚 They even brought us to Ella city to walk around together and treated us the meal! Feel so lucky and grateful to stay in this fantastic place! It actually costs more to use the Aircon but I didn't need it, even though it was the hottest time of year and I nap at noon. The hotel is surrounded by a Garden, which keeps it cool. I loved this town, surrounded by lots of pretty rural roads to wander. The staff were really kind and the location was perfect, a short walk from the bus station.
