His accommodation, in an atmospheric, traditional part of town, was clean, well organized and super comfortable. Our room on the second floor had a fabulous view out to the mountains that was a joy to wake up to. The shared kitchen downstairs had everything we needed for eating in or making coffee. The river walk park was a great way to get up or gear down every day. We wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you, Shogo, for a wonderful stay.

Staying here was absolutely wonderful. These folks are incredibly generous, warm, interesting people who are fun to be around and who are happy to share their authentic Japanese country home with others. Yuki and KoMay believe in organic, locally produced food and Yuki is an excellent cook. 'Breakfast' turned out to be a genuinely superb three course meal with home made hot soup, a gorgeous plate of all sorts of delicious treats including tempura herbs (from the garden), home made bread and little bean sweet treats. KoMay is working on his organic garden and Yuki turns it into a feast! KoMay is a professional jazz pianist. He is quite brilliant at improvisation and is happy to entertain with music as well as conversation. We felt incredibly privileged to stay with such genuine and interesting people.

The place is well stocked with needed amenities, and the host did a great job explaining how it all works. Next time I'm in Japan I will try to come back to Nara just to stay here!

The ryokan is beautiful, thoughtfully and artistically designed, very quiet and spacious. She served the best cup of fresh ground coffee I've had in my 4 weeks travelling throughout Japan. She was helpful in meeting our train late in the evening and helped us forward luggage to another hotel a bit further out on our journey.
