This family-run guest house is located in a former farmhouse, 6 km from the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. It offers basic rooms with private or shared bathroom facilities.

Relaxation options include a terrace with a hot tub. A farm church is also found at Guesthouse Gamli Bær.

We arrived at the GuestHouse in the midst of a heavy rain. The owner was waiting for us, helped us to settle our luggage and had prepared a delicious soup for all the guests. After that we rested in the sitting room playing some board games. The room was tidy, clean, warm and very comfortable. In the morning a unique breakfast was prepared made of Skyr, porridge, home-made bread and rice with milk, all cooked by our guest. The house was also next to the Langjokull excursions meeting point and close to the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss sightseeing. By far the best accommodation during our 10 day tour of Iceland. I highly recommend it to other fellow travelers!

The guesthouse is a charming old house in the beautiful countryside, close to hiking trails, as well as access to lava tube and ice cave tours. Our room upstairs had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed and nice bathroom with shower. The hosts were exceptionally gracious, told us interesting things about their family and the area, and fed us very, very well. It was a wonderful experience staying here!

Warm rooms with plenty of space for four and private bathroom too. Dinner and breakfast from the host was lovely and a real treat, eating with the other guests. Quiet and peaceful location that makes for a good aurora spot if the clouds keep away. Great location for husafell and reykholt.

Sammy is the most heartwarming host I've ever had. We were welcomed with soup at night and had an amazing traditional breakfast the next morning. The room was small but cosy, very comfortable and charming. We'd have loved to stay longer.

Delightful surprise country home, generous host with waffle/coffee welcome and great home made breakfast. Great location not too far from Reyk and a major glacier if you have the right car. We were very fortunate and saw the Arora Borealis even in Sept.

Second time I've stayed there. Special place, Sammi is a great host. Love the family style everyone around the table breakfast and dinner made by Sammi - who would think sweet potato soup is so good? Nice location, very close to Hraunfossar plus good hiking either up mountain or inside ravine with waterfall plus the property itself is unique. I routed part of my trip to specifically be able to stay there a couple days again.

The old house was original old icelandic style. Emilia was a great host she was standing in for her grandfather who owns and runs the guesthouse. A very quiet place and the best sleep we have had in months. If you want to experience some thing authentic go there.
