Featuring garden views, Oak House Laois B&B offers accommodation with patio, around 17 km from Kildare Town Heritage Centre.

I stayed in Oak House because I was attending a function nearby. The house was situated in beautiful surroundings and Trish was so welcoming and friendly. She offered me a lift to the function and chatted about the venue. My room was perfect. It was spacious and cosy, and it was equipped with coffee/tea making facilities (and lovely snacks too). The room had a flat screen TV, so I watched Netflix while getting ready. I chose a full Irish breakfast for the next morning, but there were lots of lovely options to choose from. I had a comfortable, peaceful nights sleep and enjoyed the quiet. I was greeted by Padraig the next morning, and he presented me with a delicious breakfast. The freshly made coffee and orange juice went down a treat. Padraig was very pleasant, and he offered me a lift to the train station. Oak House was ideal for my night away and I will definitely return there.

Located in Mountmellick and only 22 km from Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre, Summergrove House provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

James has been an exceptional host. The house and accommodation are so well taken care of, with lots of details (fresh flowers and water), and had everything we needed. We will definitely come back ! Besides, we got to sleep in the bed that once belonged to Thomas Lefroy (for the ones who do not know, he was the person from whom Jane Austen got inspired when inventing Mr Darcy in her famous Pride and Prejudice). Definitely felt like being in her novel, staying at this beautiful property ! I'd like to mention that James (host) made our stay at Summergrove House unforgettable. From the welcome drink to the restaurant reservation to the nice breakfast in the morning (see picture) to our lovely conversations in the drawing room in front of the fireplace, we felt spoiled and at ease in this peaceful and quiet estate. We look forward to visiting Summergrove House again. Lodovico

Offering a bar and quiet street view, The Canalside B&B at The Auld Shebeen Bar is located in Athy, 1.3 km from Athy Heritage Centre-Museum and 19 km from County Carlow Military Museum.

From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm welcome. Early check-in was granted without even requesting it. Room is fab. I loved it. Biggest bed ever and as comfortable as ever...fab décor throughout the room...everywhere was spotless clean. All the trimmings...refreshments...hairdryer...hot water bottle...plenty of lotions n potions....soft towels....plush carpeting...power shower. What more could you ask for There was a perfect view of the canal and right beside local ameneties. After Checking in I took a long walk around the town and along the beautiful canal and arrived back to my room where Leanne put on a blazing hot fire and set me up to chill n relax with the tv for “me time”. The staycation just Kept getting better. As I sat in the communal TV area I could hear the restaurant staff communicating to the chef handing over orders with such precision n professionalism that they were catering for their diners “every need” with personal preferences on each table order being catered for. The teamwork works! The banter in the background is also quite charming and at times has me giggling. A late checkout was granted free of charge. The staff here are truly amazing and the Vibe in the Bar downstairs is brilliant. Definitely will return to this little gem in Athy.

The highlight was an excellent breakfast with fantastic service, the room was a good size but tired looking the carpet needed replacing, good dinner menu again with excellent service, reasonable priced food & drinks, swimming pool was okay but disappointing the jacuzzi was not working as it needs replacing. Staff were very polite & courteous at all times.

The room was superb. Really big and airy. Very quiet. Dinner was exceptional! Breakfast was clearly cooked by people who care about quality. In fact, “Quality”, shone through in all aspects. Highly recommend this hotel. Did I mention the underground private car park?
