The hosts were welcoming, friendly and fun. They chatted and shared places to go, we sat one evening with them and it felt like we were staying with friends. Ancient architecture, huge fire place, lovely gardens to sit in. Highly highly recommend. We are going back for sure. Fresh food, wide variety, good coffee…. And two gorgeous cats. Loved it!

Very friendly hosts Kay and Kevin; greeted with coffee and biscuits on arrival. Television in bedroom but we joined them in the lounge in the evening to watch TV with them and chat. House is beautifully extended and furnished. Clean, comfortable room. Shared bathroom with hosts but no problem in accessing it when needed. Local pub within 15 min walk with extensive menu and good value food. Continental breakfast but good choice on offer and decent coffee.

The restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, we are open for Bed & Breakfast only.

Set in the picturesque village of Long Melford in the heart of Suffolk, we celebrate all that is great about our fantastic region – its people, provenance and personality.

Gorgeous location in a quiet Suffolk Village. The building was beautiful and ideally decorated. We didn't use the restaurant but the menu looked good (we were meeting friends elsewhere). Bar was well stocked and staff very helpful. We upgraded and had a beautiful and large room. Bathroom was a little less decadent than the rest of the hotel but clean enough. We used our own toiletries but good to see environmental impact was thought about. TV was odd and difficult to use - usual channels didn't seem available and if we tried Netflix or any of the other apps, none of them worked, so we turned it off and just had music playing on our phones. Comfy bed, and tea/coffee available, so all good. We loved it. *worth mentioning that had we paid full price I would have felt it a little expensive, but I had a Booking.com credit and so actually it felt like a bargain.

Nice, quiet room overlooking the river. Charming position for the hotel with a working waterwheel on display inside. Good bathroom, pleasant decor. Good walks beside the river from just outside the hotel and yet only a 5 minute stroll into the centre of town.

The effort made with the interior design was good and the space in the rooms with two separate bedrooms with wall divide, gave a feel of being in a private flat. Rooms clean & comfortable. Had a quiet private breakfast. The self serve basic continental, cereal & fruit breakfast, juice & hot drinks, covered needs, & made a healthier option than available outside hotel. Free car parking at back of hotel. Manager viewed, checked our car was parked in free safe place.

Good location! Older style furnishings inside which was a charming touch. The house was functional - the bathroom was especially big! The kitchen was well kitted out with pretty much every utensil you'd need to cook - the kitchen itself was small but that's a minor point. Good location - easy to get to Cambridge and the surrounding areas. The town itself is small, and quiet. This is perfect for a getaway retreat, great value overall.

Great location in the lovely village of Clare, where there was a good selection of shops, including a great butcher, Co-op and a bookshop that sells local maps. Check-in was easy using the key box. Everything in the property was of a very high standard and it was exceptionally clean. There was plenty of space to park our Transporter, and although on a main road there was minimal noise. Quiet private garden at the rear. A good base for touring and cycling, and if we were to holiday in Suffolk again we would happily stay here.
