The grounds of the hotel are amazing. Uninterrupted, views of the national park in a peaceful setting well away from the road. There is an operational narrow-gauge steam train station hidden at the bottom of the garden (Woody Bay), which is operated by a team of train fanatics to an exceeding-exceptional standard. The hotel was once an Inn for the railway station and still keeps much of its charm. The hotel is run by lovely people who went the extra mile to accommodate our needs for an extra bed by upgrading us to a suite too. Just what we needed. We'll definitely be back if in the area again.

location is superb, easy access to the coast path and an easy drive to Exmoor. Breakfast was great, excellent quality. As a vegetarian who dislikes meat substitute products I often find problems when eating out, but not at Longmead House. The best breakfast I've had when away for years.

Every aspect of my stay was outstanding: a squeaky clean and well-appointed large room; an immaculate bathroom with up-to-date features. I regret already having dinner elsewhere because, given the high quality of my breakfast, I clearly missed out. As I said to the owners, my fresh fruit breakfast bowl with unsweetened muesli and yoghurt, followed by a Full Exmoor (perfect, non-rubbery scrambled eggs; wilted cherry tomatoes, etc.) was like being invited round by a friend who's a gourmet chef.

I don't often give five star reviews but this place gets six! The extra star was gained by the delicious home made cake left for us. The house was perfection down to the last detail. All the bedrooms were large and perfectly made up. The hot tub and sauna were gorgeous. Above all the location is just far enough away from everything to be perfectly quiet without being a struggle to drive to. Absolutely recommend this house to a large group of friends or a couple of families wanting a get away. We will likely be back again!

Spacious, nicely furnished room, separate dressing area with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, modern shower room with large double sized shower, comfortable bed, very quiet and peaceful surroundings and lovely views over the valley. The room was in a self contained area accessed separately to the main house so feels very private. Hosts were friendly and accommodating, good communication ahead of arrival
