We stayed in The Horseshoe, a private detached accommodation, much more than just a room, with a kitchenette and its own terrace overlooking the rolling hills. The breakfasts were delish with plenty of choice. Very peaceful night's sleep in the big comfy bed. We were lucky to be given a tour round the beautiful garden, by green-fingered Christine - inspirational.

Providing free WiFi, Hay-on-Hye retreat offers accommodation just 3.5 miles from Hay-on-Wye (a 10 minute drive) and 6 km from Clifford Castle. The bed and breakfast offers barbecue facilities and a garden. The property is 6 km from Clyro Castle.

Barry and Irene could not have been more welcoming! I loved the tiny woodburning stove (it wasn't cold enough to try it though), the great design of the retreat hut and the meadow full of buttercups – a beautiful place to have breakfast. On that note, breakfast is a cook-it-yourself affair, but everything is provided and excellent quality. A very peaceful, comfortable stay all in all with total privacy. I highly recommend.

Our award winning 2 AA Rosette restaurant also won the prestigious Good Food Award Gold Seal for 2024. We recommend booking a meal with us via the messaging service so you can enjoy our great food and service before retiring to your room. There is also an option to order a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast using locally sourced produce on arrival or via a message beforehand for just £10pp.

We loved the themed décor with every nook and cranny filled with interesting items. So much wood! There was parking in the lot, an elevator, a spring fed hot tub. There was a pool in the adjoining hotel for our use, but we stuck with the hot tub. Dinner (additional cost) was great with themed food available and roving singers. Breakfast (included) was served in a lovely room and was plentiful even though we are gluten free.

Breakfast was wonderful. Diane is a wonderful host! ❤️ I previously stayed at Seven Stars back October of 2019, and loved it then too. Diane and her loving dog Captain are wonderful. Wonderful hosts! 😀 ❤️

The house was in a great location, a short walk from the centre but quiet. Everything had been well thought through - every kitchen item you could think of was provided, lovely bedding and comfy beds, locally sourced soft furnishings, lots of games to play, lovely local toiletries. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the home comforts provided. I stayed with a group of friends and we had no complaints. A perfect base to explore Hay on Wye from

It is a lovely old building that used to be a pub and in a great location for town centre. We loved the pool and made good use of it, having it to ourselves once and sharing with one other person the other time. Breakfast was ample, with a good choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. An added bonus was the private parking at the back of the property but it is quite a narrow access. Room was quaint with lovely old features.

Great location in the centre of Hay-on-Wye but in a quiet spot off the road. Some lovely walks down by the river, very close. Excellent breakfast and good choice. John and Sally were excellent hosts. Two very friendly dogs. Single room had plenty of space and there was a fridge which was much appreciated. All very clean and warm.
