This is the perfect combination of history and comfort — the house is beautiful and the garden is picturesque, and the suite of rooms where you stay is beautifully set up and decorated to be both modern and comfortable but still in keeping with the old feel of the home. The owner Kay and her partner Ian were so kind and welcoming, they went above and beyond to ensure we had a good stay. It’s an excellent location for everything in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley, and so close to Wales and Gloucester. Really this place is not to be missed!

The George is a beautiful old property with a lot of history. The pub is amazing. It has a fabulous atmosphere, and was a lovely base to spend a weekend in the Forest of Dean. The room was very comfortable and well equipped. The beams added their own charm to the room, but it was also modern and well decorated. The landlord and the manager were very welcoming, and couldn’t do enough for us. We particularly enjoyed hearing about the history of the pub. We didn’t get the chance to eat at the pub, because we were going out with friends, but the food looked amazing. We will have to return to try it in the near future.

Craig is very nice and a great host. He greeted us with a smile and coffee and cake before check-in time, simply because we arrived earlier and forgot to inform him. The room was cozy and cute and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and beautiful. Craig also helped us with recommendations and equipped us with a flashlight for the night walk back from the restaurant. One small note about the bathroom- it would be helpful to put hangers or a small chair, to have somewhere to hang or put the clothes. But other than that it was really lovely and we would certainly love to come back.
