Personal welcome. Airco was switched on in the room. Lots of information/documentation on what to do was available plus a personal explanation on options and possibilities in line with our interest. Advise on good restaurants in the area. Breakfast was top (eggs, fruit salad, several jams, fresh orange/apple juice, different cheese, .....). Area to park our electric bikes safely. It was just perfect for our stay and not too far from Saumur center.

It was an amazing house with a fantastic owner, Marie. It was as if we were in old France, with its sophistication and beauty. The living rooms are located on the first floor, while the ground floor is a series of rooms. Breakfast was served here in the dining room. It was very tasty - from wonderful French baguettes and brioche to cheeses and fruits. It was interesting for us to chat with other guests from different countries over breakfast. There is a well-groomed area around the house and a swimming pool. The chateau is located very close to the center of Saumur and its castle. But since we did not find a pedestrian road, it was safer to drive up a little by car. Saumur is a beautiful city in the heart of France, famous for its history, as well as its equestrian school and tank museum. My husband is a fan of military history, and he says that this is one of the best museums in terms of collection (he has seen similar museums in Germany, Great Britain, and Russia). I would especially like to mention the excellent cuisine of Saumur restaurants (try to book a table well in advance!) and Saturday farmer market. It was a miracle! The hospitable Marie and Monique (yes! she is a brilliant woman who manages the household!) gave excellent advice on what to see in Saumur and the surrounding area, including the flea market in Chinon. We are grateful to them for wonderful days in Saumur.

Mathilde was a wonderful host. We had to leave quite early in the morning and it was no problem for her to serve us breakfast at 7 am. The room is quite small, but faces onto the pool, which we really enjoyed. I assume it used to be the stables of the owners' large property, which is in a quiet location at the edge of the town and close to the famous sparkling wine producers.

We absolutely loved our stay in Aux Marquises. To start with, it was super easy and nice to communicate with Hélène before our arrival. Once in Saumur, both Hélène and Joel were extremely helpful and great to talk to. The room was calm, super spacious, had a very comfortable bed and the bathroom with a walk-in shower. Aux Marquises is an "AccueilVelo" meaning it is "bike/bikers-friedly" place and there is a place to securely store your bikes - which we absolutely enjoyed. Breakfasts are copious and freshly prepared with some home-made produce (yogourts, jams etc.). Lovely house to stay in with great hosts - highly recommended!
