Not very often in the days of hyperbolic Tripadvisors &c. you actually come to a place which exceeds your expectations. This was certainly the case at Château de la Foltière. The main attraction is of course the magnificent Jardin Botanique de Haute Bretagne, but the guest rooms in the château which sits in the centre of it are almost as exceptional as the surrounding park. Simple but elegant & the most charming welcome, breakfast you could wish for. A special bonus (for me) was the absence of that huge black television screen which seems to be a 'conditio sine qua non' in hotel rooms these days!

Rose Marie was a lovely host. The breakfast of all homemade, organic breads, spreads and yoghourt was delicious . Very quiet out in the country and the bed was really comfortable so we slept really well. We used the location as a base to visit Mont St Michel and also Fougeres and Rennes. Worked great. Would highly recommend this B&B. Rose Marie cooked us a 3-course meal one night for an extra €20 pp. Delicious.

Everything. It was the most stylish, comfortable, interesting and charming place we've ever stayed in. The views over the castle were amazing. The beds super-comfy. Lucille was the perfect host and her breakfast was devine. Not having parking was not a problem. There are so many places to park on road nearby and the neighborhood is super-safe, friendly and quiet. Fougeres is a beautiful town that is well suited for families and couples alike and this hotel is the best we've ever stayed in.
I booked this room as a stopover but it was exceptional and I wish I had booked it for longer. The room was wonderful with gorgeous views, beautiful decor and a lovely balcony. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with a wide range of fresh food served in a delightful dining room. The host was attentive and friendly without being intrusive.
The room was surprisingly cheap so that was an added bonus. I highly recommend this lovely hotel. Fougeresis also a charming and interesting location.
Fabulous location in the town centre but very quiet. Wonderful views over the castle from our huge room in this very old historic building. Lucille was lovely and she made an excellent breakfast. Very good value.
