By far the best place I've stayed in in the Gambia. The owner, Claudette is great, and so are the staff. Everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. The location is perfect if, like me, you don't like resorts and want a bit of interaction with the local people. It's a residential area, far from the touts, but close enough to walk to the beach or the better restaurants. The room is great, with a well accommodated kitchen and a fridge, hot water always running, nicely decorated and a wonderful sitting area. There's also a shop that sells locally made products, like honey, yogurt and shea butter. Profits go to their organization that helps to cure burns on children. Absolutely recommended!

Having stayed at several properties in both Senegal and Gambia for 3 weeks (two which were 'luxury'), I can only say Riyan Apartments was my favorite overall: great quality-price ratio, extremely friendly, flexible and helpful staff and I will surely stay there next time I go to Gambia as well as recommend it to friends and family (I already have!). The apartment was bigger then expected. We traveled with our 1 year old child and it was big enough for the 3 of us. The stuff is amazing, they are happy and very helpful. We liked it that there was a swimming pool and it was 15 minutes walk to the beach and 20 minutes to the senegambia strip. It was allowed to bring friends and family inside, which we really appreciated. We will come back to this place again!
